Wow so I’ve totally sucked as a blogger this week. Blame that thing called work. Stupid, crazy, busy work. But being busy right now is a very very good thing, considering the state of our economy and also the fact that I’m about to kick my price-shopping and final-lens-decision-making for my birthday present into high… KEEP READING »

I feel like I’ve been a sucky blogger lately. My posts recently have been mostly about Maggie being sick, recipes, whining to January, and… Maggie being sick. So in an effort to make it a bit happier around here, I thought I’d share a list of good things that have been happening. Because there really… KEEP READING »

Wow so the last 4 days just kind of got away from me. Filled with work and drama and a sick kid and a party at my house and more sick kid and laying around the house in our pajamas yesterday… quite a busy schedule, ya know? So instead of trying to plan and write… KEEP READING »

Yup. FIRED. Can you get fired if you already quit? Apparently you can. And, I got fired with a PHONE CALL. I took today off because we got new carpet installed today. I scheduled the day off last week before I gave my notice. So here I was, getting ready to start moving furniture and… KEEP READING »

So. One phase of insanity is ending, and another is beginning. After 2 years of full time work and evening work and very often weekend work, I am saying NO MORE, PLEASE! As of August 4, I will be working for ME. If you had told me 5 years ago I’d be doing this, I… KEEP READING »
I just quit my job! It makes me want to do a little dance and throw up, all at the same time.

(WARNING: Geek-speak ahead.) One of the biggest annoyances in web design is developing for every browser possibility under the sun. FRUSTRATION. And the bane of my existence has always been Netscape 4. Recently I’ve switched over to all-CSS layouts for my blog and my freelance work, so Netscape 4 isn’t really on my radar anymore…. It’s been a while since I posted a decent entry that wasn’t a meme or an Italy recap. I’ve been so busy the past few weeks, spending most of my free time (HA! I laugh at that term ‘free time’ because it’s SUCH A LOAD OF CRAP) working on various stages of redeveloping my business… KEEP READING »

argh. Without going into too much detail so as not to get myself into trouble, one of my close friends at work was fired today. I come back from vacation to that! And it was for really no good reason… just a crappy, crappy situation. She’s doing okay though and thinks it might be for… KEEP READING »

Forty-five minutes of work left. Today was looooooooong. And I have not yet packed a single, solitary thing. EEK!

One of the funny things about web programming is that I am learning how my mind works. For example, late at night (late being like 9pm.. yeah I know I’m a WILD WOMAN) after I’ve been coding all day, and I’m still coding away for my ‘second job‘, my brain can start playing tricks on… KEEP READING »

You know it’s been a while since you’ve posted in your blog when you can’t even remember what you posted about last and you have to check first. So yeah. Still busy and insane and COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS until we leave for Italy (just seven to go!) This week was ridiculous, I won’t even… KEEP READING »

so stressed out and busy right now. PMS doesn’t help, either. *cry*

One of my female coworkers just called me to try to recruit me for the company co-ed softball team. She usually plays, along with another female co-worker, and both of them are VERY pregnant at the moment. So they are looking for some replacements. And she thought I WAS AN ATHLETE. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! How hilarious is… KEEP READING »

I’ll tell ya what, it’s great to be back to feeling normal again. I can EAT FOOD AGAIN. But now I’m feeling incredibly overwhelmed with getting caught up on all the things I let go while I was sick: cleaning my house, client emails and requests, dirty dishes, grocery shopping, etc. AAAH! Today at work… KEEP READING »

Yeah, those pictures of half-naked men I mentioned in my last post? This one takes the cake. I’M JUST TRYING TO FIND PICTURES APPROPRIATE FOR A CUSTOM HOME BUILDER’S WEBSITE. Like a guy in a hard hat or something.
… when you’re searching stock photography sites at work for a new project you’ve been assigned, and you use the search term ‘builder’.. and about the first 10 results are HALF-NAKED, SHINY, MUSCLEY MEN. You just hope no one walks by your desk at that precise moment.

Nothing makes me feel more like an ass than when I send an email saying ‘Please review the attachment’ and I hit ‘Send’ without attaching the freaking thing. ARGH.

“Being sober is overrated.” (said by my friend at work after getting off the phone with her millionth pain-in-the-ass customer of the day. HA!)

This is one of the funniest and saddest things I’ve read in a while. I cannot tell you how many things I could contribute to the site- both from my freelance jobs and the clients I deal with in my day job. It’s frightening! For example, there was this lady, who claimed that she had… KEEP READING »

Note to self: Don’t ever again try to calculate your net worth on one of those online calculator things. It’s just too, too depressing and scary. How can 2 people with college educations and great jobs and who work CONSTANTLY it seems, have close to a negative net worth? How is that possible? What are… KEEP READING »

I am so fed up with work right now, for numerous reasons. Then I got this in my inbox and it made me smile. THE PLAN In the beginning there was the plan. And then came the assumptions. And the assumptions were without form. And the plan was without substance. And darkness was upon the… KEEP READING »

Today was seriously the weirdest day. It was our work Christmas party, complete with a grab-bag ‘Yankee’ gift exchange. I was off sick yesterday (girl stuff / mental health day / felt like crap crap crap) so pretty much that was the big reason I dragged myself out of bed again today. Anyway, the party… KEEP READING »

If this weren’t so true, it would be freaking hilarious. Actually, it’s still hilarious. And the comments from the people who are taking it WAY too seriously are even funnier! I cannot tell you how many clients, both at my full-time job and freelance, have done stuff like this. It makes me want to SCREAM!

Things have been so busy at work lately. My manager is out for 6 weeks recovering from surgery (everything is okay now) so we’ve all had to pick up the slack and take more control of our own projects. The flipside of that is I’ve been a little slower with Inksplash work. And while that… KEEP READING »
