Gracie girl

Gracie girl

Over the weekend, we visited Dan’s uncle at his new house (which is now just a few miles away from where we live!) It was great visiting with Dan’s side of the family, but one of the highlights of the night- for me, anyway- was seeing Gracie again. If you’ve been reading my blog for… KEEP READING »

kitty update

kitty update

I thought since you all were part of the Giving The Cats Away drama a few months ago, it was only fair that I share an update on how they’re both doing in their new homes. First, Gracie. She’s doing great. Dan’s uncle sends us emails ‘from’ her, and they are seriously the cutest things… KEEP READING »

my brain is incapable of creating an interesting title after 10pm

my brain is incapable of creating an interesting title after 10pm

So things are better. Maggie slept almost all night last night- waking around 3am for about 15 minutes, just a little snuggle on the couch before she drifted off to sleep again. And I will say, when she falls asleep in my arms like that? It makes the fact that we’re up at 3am seem… KEEP READING »

boats and fireworks and kitties

boats and fireworks and kitties

Well hello there! Thought I fell off the face of the earth, didn’t you? Nope. Just a weekend filled with Lots of Fun and also giving away kitties. Basically from Thursday night until Sunday night, we didn’t stop. So yesterday? We were EXHAUSTED. And not just because Maggie woke up at 5:15, only to ‘take… KEEP READING »

Good-bye, Senor F-Nuts.

Good-bye, Senor F-Nuts.

Tonight, we took Scotty to his new home. (You can read the back-story here and here.) (Just a quick note on the title of this entry: Dan has had a ‘special’ name for Scotty for the last few years. I’ll let you figure out what the ‘F’ stands for. It’s not exactly appropriate for the… KEEP READING »

The Furry Children

The Furry Children

A few months ago I posted about our less-than-tolerant attitude toward our cats. They used to be our babies, our furry children. Then we had a real, non-furry, human child and sadly, they kind of got knocked down a peg or two on the Priority Scale. I know that part of it is my fault…. KEEP READING »

taking one for the team

taking one for the team

I was making dinner tonight (steak sandwiches from Rachael Ray, YUM-O!), and waiting for my mom to get there so she could watch Maggie, so that when Dan got home, he could go cut the grass (since it wasn’t raining for 2.5 seconds this week) and then while he was cutting the grass and my… KEEP READING »

free to ANY home

free to ANY home

Just kidding… we wouldn’t really give away our cats. We may be fantasizing about it ALL THE TIME lately, but we wouldn’t really do it. Even if we totally should. I never thought I would lose interest or tolerance or (gasp) love for my cats once I had a baby. But as it turns out-… KEEP READING »

look! a present from Santa!

look! a present from Santa!

I guess we weren’t very good this year. Santa left us a Turd under the tree.

two kitties, free to good home. or any home, really.

two kitties, free to good home. or any home, really.

So we can add ‘Cream of Wheat’ to the list of things my cats will eat (in addition to used Q-tips, string cheese wrappers, and rubber bands). We got home from our ‘date’ last night (dinner at Lone Star and shopping for some new work clothes for Dan) to find a bit of destruction in… KEEP READING »

ew. just… ew.

ew. just… ew.

Yesterday after I got home from a long day of driving and shopping and errand-running (a long day for a pregnant women is apparently 5 and a half hours- and I think I hit the wall around hour 3), I was bringing groceries up the steps from the garage. I noticed something small like a… KEEP READING »

mish-mash

mish-mash

I just have a bunch of random things to talk about. 1. We had a great weekend, spent Saturday at home in our pajamas. I did some spring cleaning in the morning, we watched a movie in the afternoon. Then I watched the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice- or at least the first half…. KEEP READING »

friday forum

friday forum

heh… interesting that this week’s Friday Forum has to do with pets. 1. About how many pets have you had throughout your life? Not too many. I’ve had some fish, and we had a hamster when I was little (his name was Cinnamon) My family got a cat when I was in college and now… KEEP READING »

Detergent Debacle update

Detergent Debacle update

Turns out, the reason the electric was out is because the dryer shorted out. We got everything cleaned up yesterday, reset a thrown breaker (which we thought was caused by Gracie climbing in the ceiling) and thought we were good to go. Then we tried turning on the dryer this morning to do laundry. It… KEEP READING »

best laid plans

best laid plans

Today was going to be a day of work. I haven’t cleaned my house in 3 weeks and it’s getting rather disgusting. Then this afternoon was to be spent washing my car, which hasn’t been cleaned since July (other than the rain, which doesn’t count). And it’s nice out today! Sunshine! 60 degrees! Whoohoo! It’s… KEEP READING »

I win

I win

The kitties are now safely locked in the basement. They have food, water, toys, and blankets. But no tree. They may have done a number on my tree, but I have opposable thumbs which allow me to carry said kitties down the stairs, open the door, and shut them in. TAKE THAT!

bring it, bitches.

bring it, bitches.

My cats both just crapped themselves, I think. Yesterday, I made a decision. I got out the Christmas tree and put it up. We didn’t put it up last year, since the kitties were little and we weren’t having anyone over, and really- it’s just us, we didn’t mind. But this year, I want to… KEEP READING »

catching up

catching up

A bunch of things I’ve wanted to post about in the past few days, but I just never got around to it! 1. Our kitties broke their litter box. I suppose it’s the human equivalent of clogging the toilet, except in this case, a plunger won’t do the trick. The motor is burned out and… KEEP READING »

help me

help me

Haven’t told any good kitty stories in a while… Saturday night I climbed into bed (Dan was already asleep after being with his parents all day, helping them clear out his grandma’s house and get it ready to sell) I looked into my closet and saw Gracie sitting on top of my shoe organizer, all… KEEP READING »

what a cutie

what a cutie

And this is why it’s hard to hate him when he’s bad. He’s just SO DARN CUTE. Even when he’s getting cat hair all over our clean laundry.
