soothing my skin with Moroccan Infusion (review & giveaway)

For the past few weeks, we’ve been stuck in the Polar Vortex Of Freezing Cold Arctic Air And Misery, and while I thought winter was harsh on my skin before, this has been a whole new level of brutal. I have found myself moisturizing my face twice before putting on my makeup in the mornings because it felt like a desert after my shower. So much static! And dry air from the heat running constantly! My tight, dry skin has been crying out for relief. I’m not used to having this issue, even in the winter. My skin is typically pretty well-balanced, maybe even on the oily side. But my face and my arms and my legs and my back and belly…dry and itchy. PARCHED, even. Well! I got a chance to try some new products from Suave® and the timing was PERFECT.

review & giveaway: Suave Moroccan Infusion

The first product I tried was the lotion. I use body lotion a million times a day on my hands and arms (and sometimes on my feet), so I used this instead of my usual stuff. I love it. After a few days of regular use, I can say that my hands feel lovely. Even some of my hangnails and cracks around my fingernails have gone away. And it really isn’t greasy at all. I hate the butter-finger feeling after putting on some lotions (I am busy/impatient and don’t have time to wait for things to absorb for 20 minutes!) and this was quick and easy. I also used it after shaving my legs once (ONCE, because it’s WINTER. HA) and it rehydrated nicely.

I was mostly looking forward to trying the lotion because I’ll admit, I was very skeptical about the body oil spray. Oil. Sprayed directly onto my body. Ew. Even though I had joked about wanting to dip myself in a vat of oil after my showers, I wasn’t sure how the practice would go in reality. I pictured myself covered in olive oil: moisturized, perhaps, but slimy the rest of the day. So I was really happy when rubbing in a few sprays on the backs of my shoulders and arms post-shower absorbed almost immediately and left my skin feeling less tight and dry all day. I can’t speak too much to the claim of a “radiant sheen”, since right now all of our extra skin is covered in sweaters and coats so I can’t really SEE it throughout the day, but I’m interested in trying it out in the summer. The scent of both products is excellent. They almost remind me of a beachy-vanilla-y sunscreen smell, but not in-your-face or over the top. It was nice to catch a whiff of it during the day because then I could pretend I was at the beach. (A stretch perhaps, but I’ll take what I can get at this point!)

I have recently gotten into body oil. While I would never put it on my face, it has done wonders for my feet and nails! So, I think I would like to try the oil, especially because the one I’m using now is a sample from a Birchbox and costs something like 40$ retail for full size…

I am thinking trying a spritz of body oil is intriguing. Sometimes I am too impatient to slather lotion on.

The oil sounds very interesting, but I’d probably most like to try the lotion. I’ve been using some heavy-duty gardener’s lotion on my hands becasue it’s the only thing helping, but every time I wash my hands they turn slimy, which I guess means it didn’t sink in. Gross.

I just discovered that my hair, which is super dry and static-y at the ends and oily at the roots, loooooooves Moroccan Oil in the winter, so I want to try all of these products. But if I have to pick just one, we’ll go with the lotion. I’ve used dry oils in the past and haven’t found them to moisturize as well as lotion, so I think for winter, we’ll go with lotion.

I’d try the oil. It’d probably work best if I spent the $1000 on a big vat of it and just left my legs in there for the rest of the winter.

I’d love the spray oil. Lotion always feels like “so much”, but your explanation of the oil makes me think it will be light and not greasy. Great review, btw!
