super adorable birth announcements and a giveway from Minted

(I promised myself the next time I had a chance to be on the computer for more than 30 seconds, I would sit down and write the story of our first month home with Zach (yes. A MONTH. ALREADY. WHAT.?) And I will write it! I SWEAR! But I was offered a really fun thing to share with you all this week and I just could not pass it up. And now Zach is sleeping and Audrey is napping and Maggie is playing by herself so ssssshhh don’t talk too loud or someone will wake up!)

So! You know the one thing I didn’t do when Maggie was born that I kinda wish I had done? Birth announcements! I know it’s cheesy and silly but I love pictures and I LOVE getting mail (so I assume other people do, too). Plus I have so much fun designing our Christmas cards every year, so designing and sending birth announcements just extends that fun, really. But as first time parents, we were so scatterbrained in those early months, I’m lucky I remembered to brush my teeth half the time (and I’m sure I forgot a few times. Ew. Sorry.) So doing something as fancy and organized as birth announcements? HAAAAA NOT HAPPENING. I did manage to get my act together and send announcements out for Audrey, and now it’s time to make one for Zach. Yeah, sure, everyone already KNOWS he was born because of Facebook and Twitter and oh, hi, this BLOG, but whatever. They’re getting a card in the mail with pictures of my adorable baby and beautiful daughters. Deal with it!

Minted recently contacted me to see if I was interested in viewing their birth announcements and also sharing a giveaway with my readers, and I was like YES PLEASE WOOOO! because you guys, these cards are fantastic. I actually purchased our Christmas cards this year on my own from Minted, and the card quality once we received them was excellent. But the best part is that the designs are absolutely beautiful. I sat down today to look at the baby boy announcements and heaven help me, I am never going to be able to choose one. They’re all so CUTE. Some of my favorites:

The website also features “inspiration boards” created by customers and the card designers, and they combine the cards from the site with other design items- party ideas, room decoration themes, color schemes, etc.

Are you feeling inspired? GOOD! Because if you answer a simple question for me, you will be entered to win a $50 credit towards a Minted purchase of your own. What’s the question, you ask? Which birth announcement (from the ones above or another from the Minted website) do YOU think I should use for Zach? Please help! :)

And hey, if you feel like getting an extra entry or two, you can post about the giveaway on Twitter or Facebook and leave another comment with a link to your post!

Giveaway drawing entries will be accepted until May 18, 2013 and a winner will be chosen at random from the comments on this post.

Disclaimer: I was compensated for my time in researching and preparing for this post. But my opinions are my own, and I would never recommend a product I wouldn’t purchase with my own money.

My favorite is the last one. I love when the whole card is one picture with writing over top! (So I also like the second one a lot.)

I didn’t send out announcements with Margaret, either, but managed to do so for Paul. I still feel weird about it – my aunt has a frame shop so as a gift she framed the announcement we sent her. It’s hanging in Paul’s room so it’s kind of obvious M doesn’t have one. Sometimes I think about ordering a handful to put in her baby book or/frame!

I love the “Ezra Blake” one. It’s so fun!

I sent out announcements for Lee. I loved the photos we got (suckered into) at the hospital and if I was going to spend that kind of money on newborn photos, I was going to get my money’s worth. I’m glad I did, I love seeing them hanging on refrigerators! I keep any that I get, long after the babies stop being babies.

    I like the fourth one!

I like the Noah one the best. I’ve looked at some online already just to get ideas and that’s the style I seem drawn to.

I’m loving them all- my favorite is the fourth one with red/blue text “welcome our little man”. I like the graphic quality and the three spots for photos.

I love the 4th one. “Emerson”

I like the Oh Boy! one.. but it honestly depends on what photos and how many you want to use

As a fellow graphic designer I’m due in July with my 2nd and although I did custom designed announcements for my 1st – I’m thinking I might just take the east route this time…

I like the “oh boy!” one. Simple but cute. :)

I wanted to do birth announcements for Matthew but decided against it since I didn’t do it for the other two. My sense of fairness gets a little out of hand sometimes. ha ;) I will definitely have to check out Minted for Christmas cards this year though because yours turned out great!

They’re all so adorable! I think the first one is my favorite thought. How can you resist tiny baby shoes?!

I like the fourth one. I love the text on the side.

Wow – they all have so much to like… I would definitely have to base the decision on the source material – what shots you have, their angles and coloring and depth of field…

Basing it on the examples given above, though, I would say my favorite is “Classy Noah” and though I really like the other large, single shot card “Welcoming”, I also like to have all the details given, so if the text limitations are part of the card layout, I would make my second choice the first card, “Tiny Sneakers”

Good luck, and thanks for the recommend (and possible win opportunity) for awesome-looking cards!

I like the “Oh boy!” one the most, I think, though it depends so much on the picture you’d like to use! I like the last one, where the whole card is a picture, but that requires a specific balance of baby and background so you can write over it. They are all really cute – good luck picking one!

I like the fourth card best, but really I like the whole inspiration board thing for the first one, with all the orange, even better.

Ooh, I like the fifth one (Emerson) because you could do pictures of Zach and the girls. They are all great!

Well, obviously something with an alligator on it! But I don’t see one. This one is cute!

I like the second one. WELCOMING! adorable for sure. Hey you should send all of your readers a birth announcement!! :D

I really love the second one. It is such a simple announcement, but it puts all the focus on the baby which I think is really the main point anyway, right? :) I think with the right photo that one would be my choice.

I’m due on the 31st of this month with my first baby (a boy), so I love that you are showing off these announcements and will have to look into this site for announcements!

Seeing as I am in the market for some birth announcements myself, I am drawn to the last two options — Classy Noah and Gallery. I love the simplicity of those two designs, especially Classy Noah, as it really lends itself to an awesome photograph. Gallery would allow you to also include photos of your girls, too. So, it’s really a toss-up, if I was to decide!

I really love the second from the top for its simplicity. BUT, I also really like the “Emerson” one– also simple but you can add more photos. So many wonderful options!

Absolutely the first one. I fell in love with it (and the cuteness of baby) when I first saw it!

Oh I love the one that says Welcoming across the top….simple and just adorable. Although I don’t not like any of them. I mean, how could you not like something with a newborn on it?!

I love the “Our Little Man” card. So cute!!

I like the Emerson one. Simple and classic!

And I really need to win this because Kaylee needs birth announcements. (Pick me and I’ll send you one!) (What, is bribery not allowed?)

They’re all adorable. I think I like the “welcome our little man” one the best, but I don’t think you can go wrong!!
