baby boy room: blue and green and ALLIGATORS!

I’ve spent the last week and a half feeling a bit like a watched pot not boiling. I’m fully aware that I’m not even at my due date yet (this coming Sunday is The Day) and that theoretically, I could be pregnant for another week or more (OH DEAR GOD PLEASE NO.) It’s not the lateness of my pregnancy status that is getting to me. It’s the constant contracting, on and off, for days and hours and then they stop and they kinda start to hurt but they never really get closer than 10 minutes apart and GAAAAAH. I have a lot of excess mental energy I’m dealing with and ZERO physical energy with which to do much of anything besides lay on the couch and let the girls snacks and watch movies all day.

Picture of fantastic motherhood over here!

Anyway. I got sick of sitting on the couch today so I decided to take some pictures of the baby’s room to share! The room is 99.9% completed, save for the two valances I still need to finish and hang. But that requires sitting on the floor with an iron and scissors and measuring tape and my body just is not up for that right now. So those will be an After Baby Project I can finish. You know, in all that spare time I’ll have (HAAAAAA!)

When we first moved into our house 3.5 years ago, this room was painted blue- a dark blue on one wall and a lighter blue everywhere else. We left it alone because at the time, we just had Maggie and she had The Pink Room all for herself and at two-and-a-half years old, she was super thrilled with that. We just used that extra bedroom for storage and for a dancing room for Maggie. But then I was pregnant with Audrey so it was time to decorate! At the time, I was CERTAIN we would be having two kids, The End. So I ALMOST went all-out with the girly decor, but the bedding I fell in love with initially was sold out EVERYWHERE when I finally went to buy it. So I found another bedding set that I liked a lot and ended up choosing a green wall paint to go with it.

FORESHADOWING! Or FORETHOUGHT! Or just LUCKY COINCIDENCE!

Because when we found out we were having a boy this time? I realized we wouldn’t have to repaint the room. Hooray for that! It didn’t take me too long to find a boy-ish color scheme to go with the wall color and then I found the crib bedding with tiny green alligators on it and LOOK. SO CUTE. DONE.

I never really finished decorating the room for Audrey, to be honest. I stuck the decals on the wall, put her name above the crib, and that was basically it. I had plans to do things later, add some stuff to the walls… but you know how it goes with a newborn and all their DEMANDS for FEEDING and CHANGING and stuff. So it never happened. With this boy being my last baby, I wanted to have some fun with the room this time! And I did :)

I still need something small to hang on the wall here.

I couldn’t NOT buy this. Because SERIOUSLY. Also found on Etsy.

Looks a little bare, but full disclosure: the closet doors are NEVER closed and there are usually piles of junk all over the changing area/dresser. So. That fills the visual space just fine. ha.

Also found on Etsy!

Once he’s born and has a name (the poor child), that will go above the crib! Also, note the chew marks on the far right side of the crib. Thanks, Maggie!

One curtain! Done!

I have a white ledge shelf to hang on the back wall of the little nook area, but we haven’t gotten around to putting that up yet.

adorable! such a fresh/modern take on a nursery! I think a photo (of the girls? the girls with the new baby?) would be adorable over the dresser.

Oh I LOVE it. So cute! You did a great job coordinating everything.

Poor Matthew is 9 months old and I’m still not quite done with his nursery. My goal is the end of this month, though!

Okay, we have that baby monitor and sometimes it just…STOPS WORKING! Like, it drops the signal, but it doesn’t TELL YOU it dropped the signal! So you think you are monitoring the baby and then you start to hear phantom baby cries but you ignore them because HEY! I’VE GOT THE MONITOR! and then it’s really the baby screaming his head off because the monitor FAILED.

So. Just in case that monitor is new to you, you should know that.

    (ROOM LOOKS SO CUTE!)
