With about 10.5 weeks to go until Baby Dude is expected to arrive (though, if his sisters are any indication, I have more like NINE WEEKS LEFT AND OMG EEEEEK!), we’re in full-on Baby Prep mode. Most of what we have to do is related to combining the girls’ rooms together into what was Maggie’s room, plus some minor changes to what was Audrey’s room to make it more boy-friendly (Criticize gender stereotypes all you want, but I can’t put a baby boy in a room with butterflies on the wall. Sorry!)

On Tuesday, the new bunkbeds arrived. Maggie and Audrey are officially sharing a room.

Soooo this is happening...

Audrey’s old room has been empty for two nights and you guys IT IS WEIRD. My habit every night as I climb the stairs to bed is to stop in their rooms and check on them. I headed toward Audrey’s room both nights so far without thinking about it. Just… weird that she’s not in there. She’s so grown up. Not even 2 1/2 yet! But not a baby anymore. SIGH.

I won't lie: this part does kinda hit me right in the gut. These past 2yrs have gone insanely fast & have brought us somewhere I never thought we'd be. ANOTHER BABY IN THIS ROOM. Holy smokes.

Her room is still filled with all her clothes and some other things (working on moving those) and the diaper dresser thing is still there. I’m planning to just change her in there for the near future and keep diapers for her and the baby in the dresser like we’ve been doing. TWO IN DIAPERS. GAH! (Hopefully not for too long, but that’s an ENTIRELY different- and messy!- post. ha)

I’m happy to report that the first nights of sleeping in the same room have gone ridiculously well. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. They are generally great sleepers and rarely put up a fight at bedtime, but with the new setup and all the excitement, WHO REALLY KNOWS, right? The first night, it took Audrey almost 2 extra hours to fall asleep, but she only got out of bed a few times and didn’t really fuss about it. She was just… awake. I kept going to check on her, thinking she was sleeping because it was so quiet- then there were these two little beady eyes peering at me in the dark. heh. Cute. The only real drama was that her pacifiers kept falling between the bed and the wall, so once I retrieved those a few times (by moving the entire bunkbed while Maggie snored on the top bunk- girl sleeps HARD and didn’t even stir.), we got wise and shoved a few extra pillows in the space. Problem solved! We are geniuses! Then last night, she fell asleep like normal and we were thrilled. And even though I was worried about naptime today, she’s been snoozing up there for almost 2 hours already.

(You can hate me for our good sleepers. Just don’t tell me about how your kid eats broccoli or stuff with black pepper specks in it (OMG!) or anything that doesn’t involve cheese or nuggets. I’ll take a good sleeper over a good eater any day of the week. FOREVER AND EVER, AMEN.)

Anyway! So that’s the big exciting thing in our house! New beds! A giant bedroom for them to share! It’s currently filled with a jumble of toys and needs to be organized and decorated and I have some fun plans for it… but I’m oh so tired these past few days so my progress is slow.

They don’t seem to mind though. This morning I walked in to find them playing with a puzzle together in their pajamas and my heart nearly burst. I think sharing a room is going to be awesome for them.

Yay, I’m glad it’s going well so far! I think they will LOVE sharing a room as they grow up. When I was a kid I used to wish I had a sister close to my age so we could share a room. :)

Meanwhile, we tried putting Oliver and Andrew in the same room last summer, and oh boy was THAT a special kind of fun. lol… OY. Going to try again this weekend–fingers crossed!

I LOVE their bedding in their bunkbeds. Especially against the white.

Thanks!! I have more plans for painting and adding those colors into the room (a shelf along the wall with the wall above it painted turquoise, etc) but… well, we’ll see when all of that actually happens. LOL When I painted the room, we decided to go white because as Maggie (and now Audrey) grow up, I figure they’ll want to change things every few years as they get older. THIS WAY, I don’t have repaint the walls every time. I AM SMART, YOU SEE. haaaa ;)

Where did you get the bunk beds? I love the drawers! I have my eye on a similar set at for $199, but no drawers.

We got them at a furniture store in Ohio- not sure if this set is sold elsewhere? I can’t find the exact set online anywhere!
