a moment of zen with Dove Body wash

I don’t get a lot of alone time (join the club, right?) I’m alone when I’m working and the girls are at daycare, and I’m alone on the occasional solo trip to the grocery store, but in my mind, those don’t really count. Those are chores and errands and things that need to be done. So really, some days, the only time I get a few moments of peace is while I’m in the shower. Maggie is old enough to be trusted alone while I’m showering, and so far, Audrey is still content to be plopped in the pack-and-play for 20 minutes. (She is NOT to be trusted alone yet. ha)

So I tend to look forward to my showers. Not only to I get a few minutes to recharge and take a breath and have NOBODY TOUCHING ME OMG, but I get to wash my hair and clean my stinky self and I end up smelling nice at the end of it all. I’m a pretty simple girl when it comes to the things I use in the shower- basic shampoo, face wash, body wash, conditioner. I’ve stuck with the same relatively inexpensive products for quite a few years because they work and that’s good enough for me. But one thing I do change up now and then is the body wash. Where we live, winter can be brutal on skin, so Dan and I both have struggled to find a body wash that makes us feel like we have skin instead of sandpaper. And by the time spring comes around, I’m anxious about more of that dry skin showing when I start wearing tank tops and shorts, so the search for a moisturizing-but-not-icky feeling body wash happens quite a bit.

I had a chance to try out the NEW Dove® VisibleCare™ Toning Crème Body Wash. Reading the product description, I found that it contains the highest concentration of NutriumMoisture technology across the Dove portfolio, and it would give me visibly more beautiful skin in just one week. Hm. Intriguing!

  • Designed to promote skin’s elasticity and strength
  • Rich, pearlescent crème format with luxurious lather and clean rinse
  • Contains a mild cleanser, glycerin, stearic acid and Vitamin E
  • A warm ylang ylang and delicate wood fragrance with robust citrus notes of mandarin and Italian bergamot

So the verdict? The product itself smells very nice. Scent is important for us because Dan and I often just share whatever is in the shower so it has to smell non-girly or else I’ll make fun of him. He could no doubt use this body wash without fearing my teasing, so that’s a good thing. After one use, I was happy that it rinsed very cleanly. I hate feeling like I’m wearing a coat of oil on my body after a shower, and this didn’t do that. But it didn’t feel drying either, so hooray for that! As for the “visibly more beautiful skin” claim, all I can say is that Maggie asked me last week if I had a suntan or something because my shoulder looked nice. We hadn’t been outside much that week because it was approximately a million degrees out there. So I definitely didn’t have a suntan, but my skin on my arms apparently looked “nice”, according to my 5 year old. Gotta be the body wash, don’t you think?
