birthday weekend recap with lots of pictures

So I didn’t get to run the race like I wanted, but you guys, I had a really awesome birthday weekend.

It started on Friday night with a MUCH NEEDED haircut and color.

Before & after! (I look angry in that first picture. Ha.)
(No idea why I look so angry in that first picture. Maybe because my hair was too long and annoying.)

Saturday morning- my actual birthday- I slept in (until 7:30! I KNOW! HOW SAD THAT I THINK OF THAT AS SLEEPING IN??!) and had a lazy breakfast with the girls and Dan. I even woke up with less snot and coughing than the previous two or three days, SO HOORAY! Then he took the girls to the neighborhood playground and I got the house to myself for like AN HOUR, and I didn’t even have to do any work! Instead, I watched tv. At 10am! It was so extravagant!

I also opened presents. To sum up: I got jewelry. Dan got me this beautiful necklace with the girls’ names and their birthstones.

What was in the tiny box Dan left out to taunt me :)

Maggie got me a singing Taylor Swift card and bunch of necklaces and earrings she picked out at Target. She… did a really good job, actually! She’s more stylish than me. heh.

Maggie got me a singing Taylor Swift card. She gave it to me last night, she was so excited!

Necklace from Maggie, she picked it out herself! Girl is more fashionable than her mama.

I spent the afternoon playing XBox while Audrey napped, Maggie was at a neighbor’s house playing, and Dan went to get a haircut. I also had fun watching our new deck being built. (It’s ALMOST done!!)

Another awesome part of this weekend

Totally unrelated to my birthday, but exciting nonetheless- my new stick vacuum was delivered on Friday so I got to use it on my birthday so it was kind of like a birthday present to myself which sounds lame but it’s okay because CLEAN FLOORS QUICKLY AND EASILY OMG.

Unintended birthday gift to myself! Ha

Saturday night Dan and I were able to sneak away for a bit while my mom watched the girls, and we caught a movie (American Reunion, was funny and gross and silly, perfect!) and then had an amazing dinner that included ridiculously good hummus, a caprese salad, and smoked gouda and cheddar macaroni and cheese with BACON.

I told you I was good at birthdays.

Then creme brulee for dessert, because COME ON.

And creme brulee.

And then we came home and I fell asleep on the couch before 10pm. Which isn’t really any different than any other night of the year!

Good to know 33 won’t change me TOO much.

Despite the lack of the run, it sounds like it was a great day on which you made the most of what you had. A little bit of YOU time without a preplanned activity or kids begging your attention? Fabulous. :-)

    Happy 33rd!

I’m glad your birthday turned out so well, despite the change of plans. May 33 be your best year yet!
