Audrey’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

We’re not entirely sure what prompted the start of the 20 minute tantrum. My best guess is that she spied the bag of Playdoh in the top kitchen cabinet at some point and thought it looked fun and shiny (even though she has never seen What It Is Or Does) and when we told her no, everything she demanded and was denied for the next half an hour was a very, very big problem. Especially when I denied her Maggie’s Nintendo DS. WOOBOY.

Girlfriend is full of piss and vinegar, 24/7.

I should also point out that Maggie did not do this kind of a thing until she was older and could talk. (This is one my favorites. I mean: BROKEN CHEESE, YOU GUYS. THE HORROR!) (Yes, I like to videotape my children having mental breakdowns. I win at Mothering!) Dealing with tantrums from a verbal child was a completely different thing than dealing with it from a 17 month old who says ‘Daddy’ and ‘uh-oh’ and… that’s basically it. Right now, with Audrey, we’re all WTFOMGG???!?!!!??? and do our best to explain over the screeching why we said no. Because we KNOW she understands US, we just can’t understand HER. So. GOOD TIMES!

lol, we’re in the SAME boat with Cate. And when she gets mad she gets MEAN. She hits, scratches, yells, and just plain goes to jello so you can’t pick her up as she lays there and cries. I can feel the hair turning gray on a daily basis. My Mag wasn’t like that until at least 3 and then we could reason with her.
Thanks, at least now I know we are not alone. Bad Baby Cate and Audry would be an *interesting* play date. lol.

YES! Hitting, biting (attempting, at least) and the wet-noodle move. TOTALLY different than Maggie, I just wasn’t expecting it already! In a lot of ways, it’s rather entertaining… because really, what else can we do but laugh?? She’s way too young to discipline, so we just go with it and try to distract her… which usually fails miserably, as you can see with the coloring. LOL SEND HELP!!!! :)

I love how Dan just laughs at Audrey and tries to egg her on. We’ve been having a lot of unexplained tantrums in our house recently, too. Gavin melted into a puddle last night when I made him stop feeding the dog and put away her food. You’d think I cut him off from sugar forever!

The woe and then Dan laughing was the BEST EVER.
