Join me in my holiday card obsession! Win free photo cards from Shutterfly (giveaway)

Every year, even though I say I’m not going to, I totally geek out over Christmas cards. I CAN’T HELP IT. They are fun for me. I know some people think it’s lame to send Christmas cards- especially ones with family or baby pictures on them- but you know what? I think they are lovely. I enjoy getting photo cards from people I know! I love getting mail that isn’t a bills or a grocery store flyer, and mail with pretty pictures on it? Even better!

However, I send out a LOT of cards. Our family members alone add up to 50-something people. Then if I include college friends I’d like to keep in touch with… the number usually reaches into the 70s or 80s. That’s… a lotta cards. So they need to be relatively inexpensive for Operation: Christmas Card to happen. Which is why Shutterfly is such a great place to start my shopping. I haven’t started designing this year’s card yet (give me some credit- it’s not even HALLOWEEN yet!), but when I do, I’ll have good stuff to work with. Shutterfly has some really cute designs for Christmas and holiday cards– and if I add in some of the eleventy billion pictures I’ve taken of the girls recently, I should be able to whip up my card design in no time.

(Though, I probably won’t, because I’m ridiculous and spend way to much time trying out different designs. It’s a sickness. Because LOOK HOW CUTE AND PRETTY!)

And, you know, after I’m done with the cards, I may even check out some of the customizable photo gifts for my Christmas shopping. And every year I make a photo calendar to hang on our fridge- if you think I geek out over the Christmas cards, you should see me choosing pictures for the calendar. HA.

I think my list is about 50 cards this year. I’ve come around to the photo holiday card in recent years, because it’s such an easy way to let people see what my family looks like year to year. So I need to get cracking on the picture taking. Thanks for the reminder!

I’m usually at 70-80 myself. I really look forward to picking out the right card and getting them in the mail and seeing the final product. And it’s so worth it to me because I know how much I love getting other people’s photo cards in the mail too!

Yay! I love Christmas cards too. We usually send out between 55-60.

Still trying to get a decent family pic for this year (the boys wouldn’t act remotely human on the two occasions we tried so far, lol) or else it won’t be happening. Next year I am definitely getting a pro to do it!

Mine is usually over 50, closer to 75 really! But I love them too, and love getting them. No where near having a good family picture for it this year yet!

I love photo cards, too! Getting as well as receiving. I send about 40-50 cards each year. And I make the Shutterfly calendar as well, supposedly for grandparents, but really for ME!!!

I LOVE photo cards and sent them out with pictures of my cats before I had kids. (Yes, I’m that dorky.) My real list is about 75 card but last year budget constraints made me whittle it down to 50, I hate that! I’m a big Shutterfly fan and customer too!

    October 26, 2011 10:49 pm

I’m another at about the 75 range. I always do photo cards, and try to do a special ‘shoot’ with the kids just so I have the perfect card picture every year, and then I spend hours putting it together… followed by for some reason having a moment of complete stupidity and only ordering 35!!! EACH and EVERY TIME!! So I always end up having to go back and doing a second order with another 40… some days… I swear. :)

  10. Rebecca

    October 26, 2011 11:35 pm

I probably send out about 20 cards.

I’m sending out cards for the first time this year (newly married) and I am going to include a cheesy wedding picture! I’m thinking we will send around 50.

    October 27, 2011 7:53 am

I love these cards, too; both sending and receiving. It’s great to see how everyone’s kids are growing, and try to show off a bit of your own family in just one to five small shots! We usually send about 70, though we have done just 35-40 some years to save some money.

  14. Tracy

    October 27, 2011 8:06 am

I am between 50-75 cards as well. I love getting them from everyone. Watching the kids grow makes me smile!

    October 27, 2011 8:55 am

We usually send about 75. I got 50 free from Tiny Prints for blogging about them, but will need about 25 more, so this would be PERFECT.

    October 27, 2011 9:23 am

My husband will be happy to know that I’m not the only one that sends an insane amount of cards each year. This years list is 50…I’ve cut down a little :)

  17. sparkyd (Tracey)

    October 27, 2011 9:49 am

Um… I usually send 0. I suck. But every year I say “next year”. Maybe this giveaway could be the key to me actually acting on that this year!

  18. Meghan

    October 27, 2011 9:52 am

I probably send out about 70!

  19. Erica

    October 27, 2011 12:49 pm

I like getting and giving photo cards too. I’m not even going to say how many I send. Ugh it’s nuts, thank the lord for printable address labels. I try to use small businesses – moms who do their own design and stuff. Not to say I don’t love shutterfly – ofoto, etc. as they are also the bomb. 2 I’ve used that I’ve liked are Mink Cards and Less Ordinary Designs.
Also your pictures are beautiful and fabulous. I’ve said this before but holy cow dude.

  20. Candace

    October 27, 2011 1:59 pm

I usually send out about 60! I just wanted to say I am not usually a blue-Christmas kind of gal but I LOVE that blue one up there that says Happy Holidays!

  21. red pen mama

    October 27, 2011 2:43 pm

I am a terrible person. I don’t send out Christmas cards. Every year, my husband exhorts me to do it, and I tell *him* to do it. (I do “everything else”, i.e. shopping, wrapping, etc. etc.) So… IF I win through this comment, I promise to get cards… for him to send out. :)

  25. Eilis

    October 28, 2011 12:07 am

I usually send out about 25-30, depending on my mood and how many stamps I feel like buying! Gosh, 150 Christmas Cards! You guys are POP-U-LAR. :)

  26. Melissa

    October 30, 2011 12:12 pm

I think last year, we send around 40. We started off with 30 on the list, but as more people sent us theirs, we had to reciprocate. :) Gotta love that rule… Lol….

  27. Emily

    October 30, 2011 1:27 pm

I cannot believe you made me pull out my CHRISTMAS CARD LIST on HALLOWEEN!!! But there ain’t no way I’m hand making all the cards again this year, hello Shutterfly!! :) Last year 84.

  31. Gena Shearer

    October 31, 2011 11:17 am

Jen, I normally send somewhere close to 60 cards. Since this year is Caleb’s first Christmas, photo cards would be fantastic!!

  32. Andrea

    November 1, 2011 1:00 am

My list is around 70… But I may be able to cut that down this year by trimming some of the Ohio people. (I know! But some of the church people don’t necessarily need a card…)

Last year was our first year with the photo cards… I think I like it! But then again, it is time consuming… I tend to obsess and “tweak” the things to death! :)

  33. Giant Sis

    November 1, 2011 6:33 pm

I guess I send about 30 or so!

  34. Shelly

    November 6, 2011 12:20 pm

I’m in the 75 range as well. Is that the magic holiday card zone or what? I love Shutterfly and already have our card narrowed down to three for this year. Better get on that.

I love shutterfly, and the picture presents are the best gifts to give and receive. It shows that a lot of thought went into the gift. So awesome for relatives and the friends you wish were your relatives. I order about 60 and regret not buying 20 more.

  37. Jennie

    November 6, 2011 1:45 pm

I send about 100 (I KNOW), so 25 free would be pretty helpful toward my holiday card budget. Great giveaway!

  38. Sarah

    November 6, 2011 2:05 pm

I send out 50-75 so 25 free ones would be fantastic! Hope to win!

Usually I send out around 50-60 cards (with the exception of a few years ago when I cut back on them entirely).

  41. Donna

    November 7, 2011 11:19 am

I send out about 50 cards. Last year I didn’t get enough photo cards and had to resort to regular cards with a photo inside. I will not be making the same mistake this year.
