I love guacamole. But only if it has FLAVOR. Have you ever had guacamole that tastes like… paste? EW.
My sister makes damn fine guacamole. This is her recipe. We love it, and I’ve already requested that she bring it to our Super Bowl party on Sunday. (You know… the one where the STEELERS ARE PLAYING??!?!?!!!)
First, you start with your avocado. Slice it in half lengthwise and remove the pit.
Scoop out the yummy green stuff and place into a bowl. Mash it up with a fork. Add some chopped red onion (the amount is really up to you).
(Ignore the olive oil in the corner, I was making other stuff at the same time!)
Then add some chopped tomatoes.
Cumin is next- again, the amount is up to you, really. I like cumin so I usually add at least a teaspoon or two, more if I’m feeling crazy.
Then add some chopped jalapeno (optional, and the amount just depends on how hot you like it!), LOTS of chopped cilantro, some salt, and a few squirts of lime juice.
There you have it: guacamole. Or as my dad likes to call it: BABY POOP. (He’s not a fan. Which is okay. MORE FOR ME.)
1/2 of a small red onion, chopped
2 stem tomatoes, chopped
Cumin to taste
Cilantro to taste
Jalepeno pepper, chopped, to taste
Salt to taste
Lime juice to taste
Slice the avocados in half lengthwise and scoop the insides into a bowl. Mash with a fork. Chop all other ingredients, and mix together. Eat with chips!
