the incredible expanding waistband

So apparently, when the Baby Websites and Magazines and Books tell you that your second pregnancy will probably start becoming physically obvious a lot sooner, THEY MEAN IT. You guys. I’m seven weeks pregnant. And I can’t button my pants anymore. (At least not without worrying that I’m strangling my poor little bean in there! And feeling like someone is sawing me in half with denim.)

I know that it’s all bloating at this point. But STILL. This didn’t happen the last time. I remember being 10 weeks pregnant with Maggie and still comfortably fitting into my regular jeans. And shirts were no problem! Now, not only can I not button my pants, but every shirt I own is too tight around my middle (and my boobs. Oh lordy, the boobs are out. of. control.)

But there is a solution, my friends. At least for the pants issue (For the shirts… *sigh* I think I might have to break out my bins of maternity clothes and start sorting through them. ALREADY. GAH.) A few weeks ago, Sarah wrote about the Adjust-a-Button. I had JUST found out I was pregnant so naturally I was intrigued- enough that I went to the website and bought a set of those suckers. I was confident I wouldn’t need them for at least another month or so (HAHAHAHAHAHA) but at least I’d have them on-hand. They were cheaper than a new pair of jeans, after all! Plus, since I hadn’t really shared the news with the world yet, it was my first Pregnancy Purchase and made the whole thing seem that much more real.

adjust a button!

Fast-forward to last week when I couldn’t button any of my jeans. Awesome. So out came the Adjust-a-Button and it did the trick. WAY better than the rubber-band/hair-tie through the button hole trick I used last time (how many times did the dang things slip off?? GRRR)

The only issue is that the buttons come in sets of two. And really, even if I gain eleventy-billion pounds while I’m pregnant, I can’t see a scenario in which I’d be wearing TWO pairs of pants at the same time. That means I have an extra one. And THAT means: GIVEAWAY.

If you’re pregnant, thinking (hoping!) about becoming pregnant soon, have a friend who is pregnant, or heck- maybe you just want to have them on hand for Thanksgiving dinner!- you will want this. Or, if you’ve recently lost some weight and just need those pants to be a *little* tighter I hate you, you can also use this to make your waistband smaller! It’s a genius little product, I think. One of those where I’m smacking my forehead, going WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT?

So, how to enter:

1. Leave a comment telling me what you did for SuperBowl Sunday. Did you watch the game? Do you hate football and do something else? (then I don’t think we can be friends, sorry.) (but it won’t hurt your chances in the contest, I promise.)
2. You can get another entry by Tweeting about the giveaway and posting a 2nd comment here with a link to your Tweet.
3. Comments will close on Thursday evening at 9pm EST and I’ll pick a random winner after that.

Now if you need me, I’ll be over here rubbing my already-growing belly.

Note: I didn’t receive any compensation or payment for this post. I bought the Adjust-a-Button with my own hard-earned cash and just felt the urge to share the love.

What if you lose your first button? Then you won’t have any button.

I don’t lose things :) And if I do… well that’s my own fault, heh (and by then I’ll probably be in full-blown maternity pants anyway!)

A friend of mine went through her first pregnancy last year and told me about the Bella Band.
She loved them! I haven’t been pregnant yet, but I’m pretty sure that will be my first purchase.

Superbowl Sunday we ate so much food that my stomach looked like it did when I was six months pregnant with The Bean. SERIOUSLY. I AM NOT KIDDING. I NEED A BUTTON EXTENDER, DUDE!

    A) I spent the Superbowl chasing after my toddler at an un-baby proofed house while my husband sat in the easy chair with a beer. But I made a kickass buffalo chicken dip so there is always a bright side.

    B) I want another baby. Like, yesterday. Therefore I will be needing this extend a button business in the (hopefully) near future. If I remember correctly, maternity pants suck.

I saw those on TV!! But the ones I saw came with 4 buttons – a jeans one, black, brown, and tan. My husband totally made fun of them, but I can see how they would work great. My only question would be, what happens when the sides of the fly of your pants won’t even meet – that’s when the rubber band trick comes in quite handy. ;)

Yep, I watched the game, ate food, and drank. Exciting and different, I know.

Watched the game, laughed at the funny things the toddler said, and ate loads of unhealthy food. Unfortunately no beer for me yet…. (Wait, what am I talking about? I don’t even like beer!)

I know a few pregnant ladies that wouldn’t mind one of these! :)

I loved the Bella Band. It was awesome! It helped with lower back pain too. Didn’t make it go away, but helped some.

On Super Bowl Sunday we invited our friends Jackie and Garrett over along with their 2 children and maybe caught ten minutes of the actual game. We were too busy chasing small children around the house! And we actually want to add another to the mix? You’re damn straight. I will need that button extender!

For the SuperBowl, we stayed home and watched the game on the 55″ TV that Chuck decided to buy for his birthday!
I did get to eat all the yummy appetizer foods though so it was worth it!

Within half an hour of the Super Bowl starting, I had already completely stuffed my face with food, and when I commented that I was full, my husband said, “Um yeah, I would think so after you ate all that!” Hey now, that just wasn’t called for!

I would totally love that button for post-pregnancy, especially because my weight tends to fluctuate a lot during that first year!

Dude. The 2nd time is all about the Bigger, Badder Belly.

I could sure use one of those buttons until my regular jeans fit again… lol.

So, Superbowl Sunday… I watched the game with George, worked out during halftime, avoided the cookies he baked (TRAITOR), watched the rest of the game. Boring, I know!

I fully agree with Melissa – bigger and badder!!!! I was wearing maternity by 10 weeks the second time around for sure. Makes it a lot harder to keep a secret.

I have one question about the buttons, does the back side of the button poke you in the belly?

Sadly I could probably use one of these because at 4 months post baby I’m still dealing with a health issue that has left me with a little belly that looks like I’m still pregnant. It’s a bummer dude!

I actually wondered about the same thing, if the back part would poke me, but it doesn’t at all! I can’t even feel it. And trust me- my skin is RIGHT UP AGAINST IT. LOL It’s quite comfy.

My superbowl Sunday consisted of drinking a lot of TheraFlu and sleeping most of the day, thanks to some random virus I came down with on Saturday. Boo! I love football so this was a huge disappointment. :(

I totally need one of these things…I saw when Sarah posted these and almost forget about them. I’ve lost a few pounds but my booty is still too big to go down a size in jeans (but the waist is too loose. gah!).

I HAVE always heard that the 2nd baby is always popping out early!

After putting Maria in bed at halftime, I mopped the kitchen floor (but had the TV on in the kitchen. Then watched the end downstairs with my husband… I know not exciting, and I wouldn’t even be sharing except I’m intrigued by the expanding waistband…

    Congratulations on #2!

Superbowl Sunday fell on my boyfriends birthday. We went to the local Eagles and bet on horse races with Barbie horses. Very much FUN after winning $30 on the race we then came home to watch the big game. I do not hate football – I just don’t like to spend every waking hour watching it *cough* MIKE *cough* I watched the 1st quarter then headed to bed with my 5 year old grand daughter (lives with us) since she had school the next day. I asked who won the next morning.. Don’t hate me. :P I got all the highlights of the Super game with out having to sit threw it all on the new . The bad thing was…. I stinking miss most of the commercials. bummer!

Dude – I am not knocked up at all.. I am just FAT and need to expand my pants.

Jen, congratulations! I did watch the SuperBowl on Sunday over at my parents…with my kids and my sister’s running around drowning out most of the telecast, along with my father who for some reason kept muting the commercials to talk. Hello! The commercials are the best part!

Anyhoo, we may be seeing each other at Magee in late September. That’s all I’ll say for now. But if you think waists expand faster with Baby #2, you should see what they do for #3. :)

Whoo, thanks for sharing! I’ve never ordered something so fast before, I think. Except that one time when I was 14 and was told that the tickets for Backstreet Boys were available.

So, SuperBowl. It was actually on TV here as well, live I think also, but I dunno when it started, only that it ended around 4 am Monday morning. So chances are I was asleep for most, if not all of it. ;)

Never heard of these, but I’m totally intrigued.

We spent the Super Bowl at home eating corn dogs and nachos.
