We’ve been home from our Florida trip for over a week now and I still haven’t shared any details with you all. LAZY! Or… just recovering from Vacation Hangover. The very worst kind of hangover, seriously. It’s been a looong week.
As I mentioned, the visit was a surprise for most of our family. And thankfully, the secret was kept a secret and when we walked into the birthday party for my aunt, there were squeals and shrieks and even some happy tears. It was lots of fun! Maggie got to meet relatives she’s never met before. And I got to see my cousins who I hadn’t seen in quite a few years. They’re all grown up!
We spent the next day hanging out at my grandparents’ house, watching the Steeler game (SO happy it was on tv down there!) and hanging out by the pool.
Monday we decided to go to the beach, and we’re so glad we did- the day looked cloudy at first but the weather cleared and it was LOVELY.
The next few days were filled with more birthday celebration (two birthdays in the family that week!), dinners with the family, and a trip to Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. We went on a boat ride, and Maggie loved seeing all the animals- her favorite was a little snake, of all things. She giggled like mad, so cute.
My grandpa (“Pop” as Maggie calls him) is a camera guy. He’s got some drool-worthy lenses and a new Canon 5D and he let me play around with them. We talked Photo Geek quite a bit, but he knows way more about all the technical stuff than I do, so I let him do most of the talking. Listen and learn, my motto.
Our last day was a relaxing one- we hung out at the pool and did nothing, and it was glorious. And that night, everyone came over for dinner, some chatting, and some card games.
Now some Vacation Math for you. One Toddler + a plane flight + 5 days of No Naps + Lots of Fun = MELTDOWN OF EPIC PROPORTIONS!
(I look so concerned, don’t I? heh)
She crashed shortly after that. Shocking, I know.
Bright and early the next morning, we headed to the airport for our flight home. Obviously, it was a bummer to leave because we really did have a lot of fun, but I think we were all ready to get home. Both flights were great (yay, Southwest!) and Maggie did awesome. She giggled and squealed and threw up her hands during take off. Fearless! Aaaaand… then she passed out. Again.
We got back to Pittsburgh and it was 40 degrees and rainy. Welcome home!
