Tonight after dinner was over, Dan went downstairs to workout. (We’re attempting a Mommy-Daddy Workout Rotation throughout the week. Today is one day in a row that it actually happened when we came up with the plan 2 weeks ago. WE ARE SO DEDICATED.)
Maggie and I headed up to her room for some playtime so Dan could grunt and sweat and lift weights and pick his teeth in peace.
She got out her plastic Little People Farm blocks and started putting them on the green base. I figured, hey, we’re playing TOGETHER so I’ll do it too!
I put a block on the corner of the base.
Maggie, moving it to a different spot: “NO! Not dare, DARE!”
Me: “Oh okay, sorry.”
Me: “How about this white block? Does it go here?”
Maggie, pointing emphatically: “NO! It go dare!”
After this happened three or four times in a row… I started playing along with her.
“What about this green one? Does it go here?”
“This round white one? Should it go here? What about here?”
“Man, I really stink at this game.”
Finally I just gave up and let her finish building the farm or whatever, and I entertained myself on my BlackBerry while she played alone. Which is apparently what she wanted all along, because I sure was cramping her style.
