I have a secret!

I’m writing this yesterday, which is really today, to be schedule-posted tomorrow, which is actually today.
(Does anyone else have a headache now?)
So! My secret! NO I’M NOT PREGNANT. Even better: I’m in Florida! With Maggie. And my mom and my sister. (Dan is left all alone at home, no vacation time left for him, the poor sap.) The reason I didn’t mention anything before is because it was A Top Secret Mission Impossible Ninja Surprise! for our family who lives there. Only 2 people knew we were coming and woo-boy we just love surprises.
As I write this, I have no idea if our surprise was kept a surprise until the very end, but as of today (YESTERDAY!), everything is still under wraps. I did have to post a casual decoy Twitter and Facebook status this morning, basking in our ‘nice relaxing weekend at home‘ just in case my cousins or my aunts happened to see it- throw them off the scent! We Ninja-Types have to be sneaky!
I’m so stealthy.
And I will tell you what: if there was ever a day that made me ready to leave Pittsburgh in October for sunny 80-degree Florida? IT WAS TODAY. (OR YESTERDAY. SINCE YOU’RE READING THIS TOMORROW. OR SOMETHING.) After 4 days of gorgeous sunshine and near 70-degree temps, it was back to cold and rainy and gray. I have my slipper-socks on, people. And tomorrow (TODAY!), I’m donning my flip-flops!
I love you, Pittsburgh, but right now: I LOVE FLORIDA.
So we’ll be spending the next 4 or 5 days (I’m not even going to try to count because I’m getting so confused about the whole today/yesterday future post thing. I’M ON VACATION, DUDES. I shouldn’t have to think about the intricacies of TIME TRAVEL!) visiting with family who we haven’t seen in about 4 years- most of them have never met Maggie, so I’m extra excited about showing off my kid. Maybe she’ll even dazzle them with her Nude Downward-Facing Dog! Won’t that be a fun family event?
And since I’m writing this before the plane flight, I have no idea how the whole thing will go. It’s my first airline experience with a toddler, and Maggie’s first time on a plane or in an airport. Thankfully I’ll have my mom and sister with me, so we’re 3 against 1. That HAS to count for something, right?
I will say this though: I hope we don’t get the freaking swine flu.
Also: I HOPE THE PORTABLE DVD PLAYER WORKS.

Have a blast! Hope you get the game tomorrow… it’s going to be a good one! I figured you were headed somewhere when you were asking about flying with kids etc. So, did you drag the seat for the plane or did you opt for the lap? Have a blast!

She sat in her own seat with the seatbelt on & was totally fine :) All that stressing for nothing, as usual! Ha

Have a blast! I love Florida. I lived in Tampa and Orlando for awhile as a kid. And then mom brought us up here to not-so-sunny Columbus, Ohio. I still wonder why. D:

So you were worried about how Gma would react to the four of you showing up on her doorstep- was she upset w/ – - -? (I forget her hubby’s name, but I know he has an awesome camera!) :) Yes, let us know how airplane + 2.5yr old was!
Have a FANTASTIC, relaxing time!!!!

Grandma (and aunt!) were SHOCKED & it was great :) Maggie did awesome on the plane. Dale has TWO cameras, the Canon 40D & the newest Canon, super fancy, I got to play around with it a bit. Holy cow it’s nice.

Woo! Hope your flight and everything went well!
You’re lucky you weren’t here last weekend. It’s actually been nice this weekend, but last weekend (I’m in Orlando, I guess I don’t know about the rest of the state) when my boyfriend came to visit it was COLD. Like, 65. Which compared to the 95 of the week before, was freezing. Enjoy your vacation!

I’m glad you and Maggie are in Florida, but now I’m a little confused about what day it is. Unless it’s Friday, I don’t want to know.
ciao,
