weekly winners, volume 5

This was kind of a long week, and a rather emotional one here on The Internets. In case you haven’t heard the story, Heather and Mike (thespohrsaremultiplying.com) lost their beautiful daughter early last week. The reaction from the blogosphere has been pretty amazing to watch- everything from donations to blog posts to videos to March of Dimes teams being organized in Maddie’s honor to purple purple purple everywhere. I’m about a gazillion years late with getting my act together on writing about this (just got my purple-ized Twitter icon up tonight!) but if you’d like to know more about how you can help, there is a great post over at A Mom Two Boys. No parent should ever ever have to know what it’s like to lose a child.

Between this and a local tragedy involving 3 policemen, I feel like I’ve been not-so-subtly reminded that I need to be more aware of the simple, happy things in life. And to appreciate every moment, even the poopy ones.

  3. Whatever that is on Daddy’s forehead, I hope it’s not contagious. It looks a little scary. ;-)

Hello, Mr. Canon! He’s treating you well.

  6. I was away from the computer for most of the last few days and returned to find out about Maddie and then Thalon. Completely heartbreaking – I’ve been a wreck all day. Hugs to you and your family…. I hate these reminders of how fragile life is but I will be squeezing my kids extra tight from now on.
