my thankful list
- November 27th, 2008
- First, the obvious things: everyone in our family is relatively healthy. Such a blessing. We have a vibrant, energetic daughter who (even given her frustrating moments!) is an incredible source of joy in our life. And she cracks us up at least 27 times a day.
- The sunshine that I woke up to this morning. In November. In Pittsburgh. Doesn’t happen often!
- Our families. We always have a great time when we’re together, no matter if it’s a big occasion (Thanksgiving or Christmas) or just dinner or a Steeler game. Both of us have been blessed with fantastic in-laws, and we remind ourselves of this often.
- Maggie singing along with me to ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’.
- Elmo. Ariel. My only means of sanity and peace some days.
- I finally have a cleaning person who does a good job. The point of hiring someone to clean is to make things less-stressful and easier on me. And she does. She even helps me carry groceries into the house!!! She is fantastic. Do you think she’d find it weird if I asked her to move in with us?
- The lessons I learned this fall with my business. It was a bit costly (to the tune of $2500, OUCH.) but I learned that you really can’t trust anyone to admit their mistakes. Some people just have to blame someone else. So I’ve made the changes I need to make to protect myself in the future.
- I’m not pregnant with Baby #2. Woohoo! :) Trust me, this is something to be thankful for. My sanity could not take it right now.
- Just like last year: Moe’s & Chick-fil-A.
- Maggie-giggles coming from the bedroom as I write this. She loves her daddy so much.
- My kitchen that FINALLY was completed this year. No more nasty linoleum floor or carpet in the dining room.
- We found good homes for both of our cats. It was a horrible decision to have to make, but it was necessary. I am so happy that people we know and love were willing to welcome them into their house. PS- I’m also thankful that the cat-pee smell is gone from my basement.
- I got to fulfill a childhood wish to see The New Kids on the Block in concert. Hello, I’m 29 years old and went to see an 80s boy band. And spent $45 on a tshirt at the show. AND I DON’T CARE WHO KNOWS IT.
- My blog friends. So cheesy and nerdy but it’s so very true. Only a few of you I know in real life, but a lot of you have been reading my site (and I’ve been reading yours) for a long, long time. Some of you are new readers (*waves* Hi!!). But you guys are always there to offer advice when I need it, or share your own goofy childhood stories, or just laugh with me at my daughter’s silliness. Thank you.

Woo #1!
This was a sweet post. Lots to be thankful for!
I didn’t read your July panic post until now – Earlier this month I spent $15 to get my period as well… I only bought 1 test though and of course, it didn’t work. So, even though I’ve had a little period, I’m still not convinced, but we’ll see.
I can’t believe the T-shirt was $45!! I didn’t even go to the booth at our concerts because of how ripped off fans get for anything at venues.
This is what I’m thankful for today: yesterday we were THISCLOSE to getting into a car accident on the highway. Some moron decided to change lanes from a stopped position while we were doing 120kph and we had to swerve into the shoulder to avoid hitting her. THANK GOD DAN knows how to control the car and stay calm. I think I would have hit her myself had I been driving. Oh, and did I mention that she came into our lane from a double solid line? Yeah. HIGH FIVE.

@Steph: holy crap that’s definitely something to be thankful for! yikes! I HATE stupid drivers, I get so angry when I see people doing crazy stuff on the road. I’m so glad you’re all safe!!!!
And yeah, Dan was totally mad at me for spending the $45 on the shirt (that was more than our tickets! ha) But it was all part of the experience, I told him :) Then I told him to leave me alone and shut up! hehe

Wow, what a great list… and a lot of things to be thankful for!
I am really thankful that I’ll be spending Christmas with my family in Germany (!) and that I have a great boss who will let me go for 3,5 weeks! ;) Wohoo!

That’s a sweet list. :) I don’t know what I’m thankful for this year, I haven’t really sat down and thought about the specifics. I do know that 2008 has been a pretty damn kickass year so far, though, so I’m sure if I did sit down to try I’d come up with a list as long as my arm.
