our day, yesterday

As soon as I saw this, I knew I wanted to do it. Take video footage throughout your day, edit it all to fit into 90-seconds, then upload it to Flickr (and post it to the group if you’d like) I actually have 2 videos- because as it turns out, compressing an entire Toddler-Day into 90-seconds? IS REALLY REALLY HARD.

(So is fighting with Windows Movie Maker, but that’s a story for another day. Anyone know a great, preferably free alternative for Windows Movie Maker? It’s the one and only time I’m ever jealous of Mac People.)

(View the shorter, 90-second version here, if you so desire.)

I really enjoyed watching this video! You did an awesome job editing it, too. Thanks <3

Okay, so I’m totally amazed at how structured your day seemed! Everything happened like it should! It makes me envious of life when i had one, instead of four.

It’s a rare day that I’m in bed by 11:19… it was surprisingly entertaining to see you doing the routine things of life… and your little girl is adorable. :)

Mommyjs last blog post: It isn’t about the stuff.

@Mommyj: lol I was just going say- it only seems structured because there is ONE kid involved! And yesterday was a surprisingly great day. She took a 3-hour nap! Today she made up for it by fighting her nap for almost 2 hours, and then only sleeping for 1. Guess you win some and lose some ;) hehe

There was also a huge gap in the filming after we put her to bed and she screamed for an hour. heh I was otherwise occupied and didn’t capture that on tape… it was only afterward when I thought MAN that would have made for some good video!

I love that! (so did my 3 yr. old daughter! ha). I loved all the sounds–chopping the veggies, cutting the banana, forks clanging, etc. Very cool.

I watched the long one and I loved it! Such insight I have now. I think I might make one too. Although my life is not as interesting or busy. Hmm.

    That is REALLY cool!!

    Great idea!!!

You are my hero. I am totally convinced now, after being only somewhat convinced before, that I should not reproduce. I can not live up to a routine like this!

  10. Jen / Oct 29 2008

@Crissy: hehe oh you get used to it, trust me. It’s funny because I look back and feel like the newborn routine was worse, even though it mostly involved sitting on the couch and nursing/feeding a baby! It’s a lot more fun now (though definitely exhausting!!)

I loved that video! I especially loved the sequence with the chopping and cooking (dinner) – the sounds and the visual together flowed really well.

Also, your house is SO clean. *jealous* :-)

I love the video! I remember reading here once that you got an old blog of yours printed. Where did you do that? Can you email me or comment on my blog and let me know. I have some Christmas gift ideas that are related to this!

I was going to say how jealous I was of that 3 hour nap! That’s a rare occasion in our house. But it’s true that it depends on the day. What a great record! I’m terrible with video, but thinking about doing something with photos.

That is the perfect example of a day in the life of a mom! And it made me remember how quiet things were when I only had one child. Good job!

that is awesome! You did a great job!

I am impressed that you still use the changing table! We gave ours up in about March, because someone is tooo wiggly!!

And we have the same lawn mower, and it is sooo loud, especially on the wood floors! We have Grandma to thank for that!

@Jane: oh I KNOW! I hate that lawn mower, LOL- and we have OUR grandma to thank too ;) She loves it though.

She’s actually been really good about the changing table, surprisingly. She doesn’t usually lay down for clothes changes unless she’s tired, otherwise as soon as the diaper is on, she rolls over and stands up to get dressed.

I love it! What a great idea. Your day looks an awful lot like my day–haha!

I do have a lovely mac…maybe I should make myself do it.
