hanging in there
Didn’t mean to rustle up all that drama last week only to drop off the planet for a few days, sorry about that. Things have been understandably NUTS and I do have an update coming for those of you who have been asking. Everything is (hopefully) going to be resolved in a day or two and then I’ll be safely able to talk about things here publicly. Until then, just know that I’m good, just a little disappointed in Other People right now.
(I also HATE the fact that I have to be all secretive and cryptic right now. gah.)
Anyway, even though the past week or so has been a stressful experience all around, the one bright spot- as usual- is Maggie. Things she’s been doing:
- Playing the ‘How Much Longer Can I Extend Bedtime?’ game by any means she can think of. This includes trying to convince us she needs a diaper change (‘POOP!’) or crying in her crib and then when we walk in, she starts rattling off the list of new words she’s learned (‘Kick!’ – complete with a kick of her foot – ‘Goo-gick!’ – which means ‘music’ in case you don’t speak Toddler.)
- Related to that- the new words she’s learning, oh my goodness! It is now to the point where we can no longer keep track. I’m pretty sure she understands 99% of what we say, at least in vocabulary. And I suspect in meaning… but she’s still young enough that she can get away with pretending she doesn’t get what we’re saying.
- Sleeping pretty well. Again. FINALLY. There was a rough night over the weekend where she woke up just as I was crawling into bed (oh, how I HATE that timing!) Turns out? She had taken her diaper off and peed everywhere. Whoops. Think we would have learned our lesson from the Poop-casso debacle, but Dan put her in a (cute as all get-out) nightgown without pants, and apparently she decided that the diaper was unnecessary. I didn’t even notice it until the 2nd time I went in to calm her down, I was rubbing her back and went a little lower and was like ‘Um, why is her butt so little?… oh no, WHERE’S HER DIAPER??’ Panic ensued until I confirmed that she was just wet. But yeah- sheet change at midnight, always fun. But since then, she’s been good. I missed my sleeping baby girl.
- General Adorableness. Which is good, because during a week like this, I totally needed it.
Another thing I needed? A haircut, which I got today and I am only now realizing how much I really didn’t like my last haircut. The same girl cut it today, and she totally redeemed herself.

nice! I hope mine looks as good after my cut on Friday!
Does Maggie do the whole ignore thing? Where you’re talking to her and repeating her name – trying to get her attention, but just keeps going about her business because she knows what you want her to do??

Really liking the haircut!! Your hair always looks great though – I am forever jealous of such straight, thick, manageable hair…
I thought it got a lot more “fun” (and somewhat easier) after Oliver turned 18 months, with all the talking and understanding (on his side AND ours!) and activities we can do since then. I’m glad to hear Maggie is following in that direction! I bet this year’s holidays will really be a blast with her at this age!
Hope everything worked out with the Job-Related Stuff, too. Hang in there.

@Jane: Oh yes, she does the ‘ignoring’ thing, and the ‘avoid making eye contact’ thing. What I find so funny is how early this stuff starts!! It’s like GENETIC, these little acts of defiance! hehe Mostly, it’s adorable… for now. I’m sure in another few months it won’t be so cute anymore ;)

Your hair looks very good. I’m surprised you let the gal redeem herself. ;) Cute!
Melissas last blog post: my struggle…
I’m glad things sound like they are working out on the client front, hopefully your faith in others will be redeemed and resolved this week. Just like your haircut lady redeemed herself.
It’s a nice look.

I like the new hair! Very pretty :)
Glad Maggie is sleeping better for the most part. Thank god she only peed this time with no diaper on!
1: Awesome haircut. I am about 30 degrees of jealous.
2: Bun does the “poop” thing at night too! huh. also, she will call everything “poopy” and when I tell her the real name for it, “towel” “soap” for example, she goes, “ooohhh”.
3. (last post) you mean your computers is NOT supposed to lag behind when you’re typing. hmm. will have to look into that.
4. the ignoring thing? doesn’t get better.
ciao,

@red pen mama: lol yeah believe it or not, computers should be able to keep up with typing. Now I’m living the life of luxury with my dear sweet laptop back ;)
Also: please don’t ruin it for me. Let me believe that she’ll stop ignoring me… someday.
