This weekend was crazy-busy. Saturday we visited a nearby farm for some good old-fashioned fall entertainment. Farm animals, a hayride, and a stroll through a pumpkin patch. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Plus: my kid feeding a goat. How much more idyllic can it get?
We came home for lunch and naptime (well… kinda. Maggie really just played in her crib for an hour and a half before finally falling asleep an hour before we planned on leaving for the next event. heh.) We woke her up and headed to my parents’ house for a birthday dinner for my uncle. There, things took a slight turn from ‘idyllic‘ and ended up… well… ‘in the toilet‘ is probably the best way to explain it.
(PLEASE. PLEASE click through to the Flickr page and read the explanation. Otherwise you will TOTALLY get the wrong idea.)
But then things came back to idyllic when my daughter discovered she had the power to make us all do whatever she was doing. A little game called ‘Maggie Says.’ I’m not even sure how it started… I think my mom imitated her slapping her knees, and then I did, and then my sister did. And after a few tries, Maggie finally ‘got it’ and realized what was happening and OH LORDY THE GIGGLES. I truly think these giggles could cure people from what ails them.
And between yesterday and today? My kid has ASKED TO TAKE A NAP- TWICE. As in, coming up to me and saying ‘Nap!’ and pulling me towards her room. And going to sleep. FOR ALMOST 3 HOURS. Forgive me for being confused, since only a year ago, she fought naps like The Devil and then only slept for 20 minutes.
I wish I could bottle these last three days and pull them out when things get ugly.
