kind of all over the place.

First, I want to thank you all for sharing your advice and experience on my last post regarding the Milk In A Cup question. It’s good to know that I can just relax about it and ignore The Books. Which I kind of knew, but it’s nice to have real moms share their thoughts. I think my fretting comes from counting ounces for so long with formula. After I had so much trouble with milk production and stopped breastfeeding at 6 weeks, I was overly concerned about how much Maggie was eating and I think that carried over into this. Which- um? She’s huge now. She’s a pig. I can relax, heh. So thanks to everyone who commented, I truly do appreciate it!
I usually try to respond to my comments here on the ol’ blog (which isn’t usually too tough because I don’t get a ton… not that I would mind if I did! ha!) but the last few days in our house have been a little… Crazy? Disorganized? Scattered? Random? Nothing majorly bad or anything, just little life-annoyances and drama plus a toddler and Normal Stuff that makes me want to hide under the covers for a few days and ignore Life.
On Tuesday, we got new carpet in our basement, finally! It looks fantastic and doesn’t smell like cat pee and isn’t the color of poo (the old carpet was dark brown and just ew.) So now we have to figure out how we’re arranging everything. The Master Plan is to turn the now-office upstairs into a playroom for Maggie (and possibly a playroom/nursery for any future baby that may come along before we’re ready to move, but that’s WAAAAY down the road) The only issue is that our basement is not quite big enough for all the stuff we need to… well, STUFF into it. The desk in the office is a big L-shaped thing, and the only wall long enough for it is where the BowFlex goes. And that actually (surprisingly!) gets used quite frequently (though not by me. shutup. I know.) so we need to keep it around. Our brilliant idea is to try to fit the BowFlex into the laundry room. Sounds crazy I know, but our laundry room is seriously like 10 times larger than it needs to be. So it *might* work. We’re going to try it this weekend and see how it works. If it does, I will be super-duper excited. If not… then I will cry. Just kidding. But I will be bummed and I will have no clue what to do with this lovely desk in our office, and our extra computer and printer and all of my files and bills and argh WE NEED A NEW HOUSE.
Tuesday night while we were watching a movie, my laptop died. As in, I glanced over at it from the couch and the screen was all weird and had lines going across it. Then it shut off. Dan tried unsuccessfully to operate (literally- he took it back to the office and opened the sucker up!) And of COURSE it’s out of warranty, we bought it in June of 2007. After some phone calls today, it has been decided that the graphics card is shot, which is $400 to fix (because the motherboard ALSO goes with that, apparently?) BUT! Good news! Since we used our Visa to purchase it, Visa will in effect extend the warranty and cover the cost for us! The bad news? I have to ship my baby away for 2 weeks. *sniffle* So here I am on our old almost-8-year-old desktop that, sometimes as I’m typing, is 2 or 3 letters behind me. And it’s not because I’m a REALLY fast typist. Thank goodness I make frequent backups of all of my files (thanks to Mozy!) because somehow I don’t think ‘My laptop crapped out on me! Sorry I can’t work on your site for 2 weeks!‘ would be well-received by my clients.
This weekend will be good though. My dad’s birthday is Sunday, so we’re having a pizza party dinner at my parents tomorrow night (it’s what he wanted!) And Saturday is a party with Dan’s family, where Maggie will continue to charm the pants off of everybody there. Assuming that this runny-nose/cough thing doesn’t get any worse. Oh, I didn’t tell you about that? OH YES. Just 1 day after I oh-so-quietly point out how wonderfully my kid has been sleeping and we’re all so well-rested and loving the 8-hour stretches we’re getting, she fought bedtime last night until 11 and then woke up at 4:30. And was up until 5:30. And Dan got up at 6. So I didn’t fall back to sleep until 6:30 or 7. TIRED TODAY. I tried to be patient with her though, because I could tell she was feeling lousy. Coughing, a runny nose this morning, and lots of drool. I believe it’s the dreaded Cold/Teething combo. FUN FOR EVERYONE!
In order to not be a total downer on this post (because seriously things aren’t BAD at all, just a little nutty), here’s a picture of the clothes I bought last week on my shopping trip! Notes if you click through to Flickr.

I think that responding to blogs should be something you feel like doing and want to do, not a chore. People should comment on your blog because they like your blog and want to interact and not because they expect comments back. Well, that’s how I am anyway. Just take care of whatever needs taking care of. Nobody’s blogs are going anywhere.
Sorry about all that crap with your laptop. I hope that everything works out with that.

Boy, sickness posts are EVERYWHERE. :(
And things breaking, too. ‘Cept ours was the cheapo DVD player in our bedroom. I don’t actually have a laptop… that would be my husband’s… this is really sad, but I’d prefer to work on my computer at the office. It’s newer and faster and has better software. Heh. ;)

I try to respond to comments on the blog too, but I’ve been kind of slacking off lately. There’s always an excuse, right :}
