corn and ice cream.

Yesterday we made an exception to our ‘Doing Nothing This Weekend’ plan and headed to my parents for the afternoon. There was free (yummy!) food involved, so who were we to say no? Plus, we always have a fun time over there. It wasn’t just the food.
It was a hot afternoon, so we brought Maggie’s bathing suit so she could splash around in the pool. And splash she did.
Maggie had her first corn on cob!
Then after dinner, we had ice cream cones for dessert. Maggie had never had an actual cone- a few tastes from ours but never one to hold in her hands and eat by herself. But she had a grand time with it, and it was fun watching my sister cringe at the sticky mess that was made.
So you see: sometimes not sticking to the Loser Weekend plan ends up being a good thing.

Mmm looks like she was really enjoying herself. I have given Lily licks off of my ice cream cone and she goes nuts for it. I can’t imagine what she would do with her own!

@ambitious mrs: yeah we weren’t sure what she would do with it. She actually didn’t do too bad, until she decided to try eating it sideways like her corn on the cob ;) hehe

SO cute! Glad you had a good lazy weekend…I think that counted as lazy. (Not cooking is great!)

Holy cow, what a cutie.
I just want to note how ambitious you are for actually putting your toddler in a bathing suit (Bun gets a swimmy diaper and lots of sunscreen) AND aqua shoes. My kids are barely that well prepared to leave the house when we’re NOT swimming!

@red pen mama: haha thanks :) I just think her little bum looks too cute in a bathing suit not to put her in it. And surprisingly, she’s quite cooperative about it (she’s recently become obsessed with putting clothes on, including my (clean) underwear on her head while I’m folding laundry, heh)
