(I couldn’t think of a title to pull this incredibly non-cohesive post together, so I picked something random. First person to guess the reference wins a million rays of sunshine! …What, that’s a not a legit prize?)
Saturday we spent the day at Kennywood, which was super awesome and fun and exhausting and wow, I never knew how many people still had mullets. Maggie loved the rides (all four or five of them that she could go on, heh), especially the Turnpike cars with Dad.
We almost had a Minor Crisis on the Dizzy-something-or-other (Note to self: If the word ‘Dizzy’ is in the name of the ride, IT WILL PROBABLY MAKE YOU DIZZY.) It looked very mild and non-threatening, and it was in Kiddie-land, for goodness sakes! But as soon as we started spinning, I could see that she had no idea what to do with her eyes- they were practically spinning out of the sockets. And if I looked up, I got dizzy and disoriented too, we were spinning around so fast! She didn’t cry or fuss, she just looked very very confused. I kept trying to cover her eyes and get her to look at me so she wouldn’t get dizzy or sick. Finally the ride ended and just as we were slowing down, I thought I saw her gagging and Mom Reflex took over and I put my hand in front her mouth to catch it. Yes, by it I mean the puke. But, thankfully- no puking! (More pictures here)
Speaking of my baby, she’s 16 months old today.
And in closing, How I Started My Day After Being Awake From 12:45 until 2:30am (My Nights: Now With More Teething!): Looking outside on the deck and seeing last night’s garbage strewn about by some unknown animal or beast. Including diapers! And coffee grinds! And more diapers! And I got to clean it up all by myself. Yay! I love Mondays.

That’s easy! Gilmore Girls … it was one of Lorelai’s made up names to see how many mailing lists they’d sell her name to …
teething sucks. No way around it. Congrats on 16 months. She is too cute.

Oh YUCK (about the garbage)!
Kennywood is an amazing place for mullet spotting. Who knew that so many ‘Burghers still loved them some mullets?! In highschool, we made a game out of it.
The pictures are super cute on Flickr! It looks like a fun time, especially with the mid day nap :) Happy 16-months!

the last time I thought my two-year-old was going to rolf, I directed him to my chest so he would throw up on my shirt and not the carpet… The things we do for our kids..

@kirida: hehe it is funny the reflexes that take over. It’s amazing too because I have the strongest gag reflex ever and I am a major sympathy-puker. But when it’s Maggie, it doesn’t bother me at all. Those Mom Instincts kick in and I’m in survival mode!

Wow! Happy 16 months! What a big girl she is!!!
And sorry, you’re not going to get much sympathy from me when it comes to sleep deprivation… Of course, I don’t have a business to run, either! :)

Yeah – that ride is puke-y. but not as bad as that new spinning ship thing that I took the girl on last year – ugh. This year, I am taking my SIL and she can do all the kiddie rides while I go on the Pitfall sixteen hundred times.

I’ve never been to Kennywood, but I’ve been to Dollywood. I imagine they might be similar in nature. Also, I love the sounds she makes when the ball finally shoots out. haha.

Haha I can’t stop laughing at the look Maggie gives the toy when she bumps it (34 secs left in the video). You’ll be seeing that look a lot in about 15 years.
