busy girl

Things Maggie did this week:

  • slept through the night without a peep for 4 nights in a row
  • gave Mommy one kiss and one hug
  • cut a tooth, with another one not far behind
  • climbed a long flight of stairs at Grandma’s house
  • had her nose wiped approximately 8,492 times
  • went on two walks with Mommy
  • started babbling and talking 100 times more than last week, I swear she knows what she’s talking about, even if I don’t understand
  • repeatedly points to her hair is if you ask her where it is
  • took her first un-prompted steps from the couch towards a toy, after which she stumbled, fell sideways, rolled over, and farted. Her daddy would have been so proud to witness that.

EDITED: I keep thinking of more things. So I’ll just keep going!

  • said the word ‘balloon’, I’m pretty sure. Several times, repeatedly, when pointing to a balloon. It sounded like ‘boon!’
  • almost took a tumble DOWN the stairs in our house when stupid Mom forgot to close the gate after we got back from our walk
  • started drinking only whole milk- no more formula!
  • She wandered into the kitchen while I was eating lunch, and suddently it got really quiet. Then I heard her giggling: ‘hee hee… hee hee…‘ I went in, and she had my dish towel on her head, covering her face. I said, ‘Maggie what are you doing?‘ and she pulled it off real quick and grinned at me, laughing. What a jokester we’ve got!

hehe… first time Rylan ever rolled, it was followed by her ripping the hugest one ever… we got it on video…

    and daddy was proud.

this age is amazing, and yeah for saying “boon”, and the walking, oh watch out, Rylan runs from me, now.

    So so fun.

@Melissa: yeah no kidding, look out Mommy!! It’s so funny, because she’ll go weeks with no major big milestones.. then all of a sudden BOOM! Like 12 things in one week!

The hair thing! My daughter just started doing that last week. She’s since figured out her teeth, my teeth, her nose, her toes…it kills me.

And nose wiping? Yeah. There’s got to be a better way.

    My favourite word that she tries to say? “Backpack”. It comes out like “ba ba”, but she points to it, so I know that’s what she means :}

@Backpacking Dad: hehe, well tonight I asked her ‘Where’s Maggie?’ And she pointed to her hair. hm… then I asked where her nose was. No response. It’s funny how they pick this stuff up, because I actually never ‘taught’ her where her hair was- we just talk about it and she tries to brush it.

Nose wiping = Major Drama. I seriously need like 6 hands to do the job. And earplugs.

  6. ‘boon’ for balloon was one of my favorite of Allie’s musings when she was smaller. Maybe it’s because of her southern accent, it was always ‘booooon’. And congratulations on the sleeping through the night!

Yeah for the sleeping through the night! Thats such a huge milestone to parents… I’m sure to them its like “so what?”.

Once they start talking they never stop. Same with the walking, once they are on the move, THEY ARE ONE THE MOVE!!! And you thought it was like wrangling a monkey before… just wait!!

Sounds like she’s just been as cute as all get out right now. Video tape everything you can think of!

Hmm .. I tried to post already, and nothing happened. I think your blog ate my comment!!

Anyway, I think I said: congrats on the sleeping through the night. Thats such a big milestone for the parents. I’m sure they are thinking “so what?”

and then I said a bunch of other stuff that I have already forgotten. Wow, my memory is BAD!!

@Kris- sorry about that, your comment got marked as spam for some reason??!!

Maggie’s actually been sleeping through the night since 4 months, but lately she’s been teething and sick so it’s been kind of rough going. So four nights in a row without a peep was wonderful (last night made it 5!) I don’t have quite as high hopes tonight, as she’s running a bit of a fever and might be fighting something. *sigh*
