my first born
Found this at Julie’s blog :)
Here you go mommies- a survey all about your first born! (The full, detailed story is here)
WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED?
Yes- do I ever do anything unplanned? heh
WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME?
Yes, for 4 years
WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS?
I was shocked, even though we’d been trying. Seeing those 2 pink lines is still kind of a ‘Whoa!’ moment!
WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU?
never for a second
HOW OLD WERE YOU?
27
HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT?
I had started (what I thought was) my period a few days earlier. But it had been very light and had seemed to stop, and it was a little earlier than I had expected (implantation bleeding, it turns out!) I had just quit my job a week before, so I was at home watching Gilmore Girls, enjoying being self-employed, ha. I hadn’t been feeling all that great that afternoon, so when I went to the bathroom I thought, ah, what the heck, I’ll take a test. I seriously NEVER thought it would be positive. But it was.
WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST?
Dan, of course! He got home and joked about where was his dinner, and I said, well, I got a little distracted this afternoon. He said, with what? And I pulled out the stick.
DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX?
oh yes, definitely
DUE DATE?
April 8
DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS?
Morning, HA! What a crock. I was pretty nauseous from about week 7 until week 13. Not nearly as bad as most, but pretty bad. I never threw up (but I’m not a puker, so I wasn’t surprised, though I came close a few times!) I lived on pretzels, Goldfish crackers, cheese, and fruit cups for over a month. I lost 7 pounds.
WHAT DID YOU CRAVE?
Nothing in particular, really. But I was really into pineapple. And fruit in general, actually.
WHO IRRITATED YOU THE MOST?
Heartburn and hip pain
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD’S SEX?
female
DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING?
No, I would have been happy either way… the first one is always low pressure, because you can always try again for the other one :)
HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY?
40. I know, OUCH. But I’ve lost it all, woo!!!!!
DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER?
yup
WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW?
I knew about it.
DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY?
no… I had a weird heart palpitation thing but got it checked out and everything was fine. The doctor said it was probably the baby resting on an artery, and that made it harder for my heart to pump the blood.
WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh
HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR?
Well, technically I guess 24 hours, but things were VERY mild the first 18 hours and slowed down a lot. They gave me Pitocin and broke my water at 6 or 7 am, and the baby came at 12:42pm. So really, just 6. But when she’s bad, I’m gonna make her feel guilty and say it was 24 hours :)
WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL?
Dan
WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Dan, and the nurse and doctor, of course!
WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION?
natural
DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN?
oh yes! An epidural after about 4 hours of Pitocin-induced contractions. So I only had it for about 2 hours, thankfully.
HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH?
6lbs 11oz
DID YOUR CHILD HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS?
nope, she was healthy
WHAT DAY WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN ON?
March 28, 2007
WHAT DID YOU NAME HIM/HER?
Margaret Elise
HOW OLD IS YOUR FIRST BORN TODAY?
9 1/2 months
