too tired to think of a title
Quick rundown of the last couple of days.
Friday: Dan calls and asks if I want to go to the Steeler playoff game on Saturday. UM, YEAH! So we’re going. My mom will babysit because she is awesome.
Saturday: We all wake up, do our morning routine, I leave to go to the tile store (still looking for tile for our kitchen: I found some a couple of months ago I liked, and when I went back to place the order last week, the tile place was closed. As in, NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. The racks inside are empty and there is a sign saying ‘Thanks for all the memories!’ or something. BAH. Starting over.) I run some other errands while I’m out. I get home 3 hours later- Maggie has just awoken from a 3-hour nap! She feels hot. We think it’s just from her outfit, kind of a thick fleecy thing. We change her clothes, but she’s still hot. Take her temperature. The ear thing says 99 in one ear, 100 in the other. The armpit thing says 100. Google what to do if your baby has a fever. Apparently at her age, the danger is over 103 or if they’re acting differently. She’s not- she’s playing, eating, everything just fine. We keep an eye on her, both quietly wondering if this means NO STEELER GAME for us. ARGH.
She takes another nap less than 2 hours later- she’s very very tired. I give her Motrin to help with the fever, but other than that, she’s totally fine. Mom comes over, I check on the sleeping Maggie. Her cheeks are cool, her head is nowhere near as hot as it was. We decide to go ahead to the game. I feel a little bit guilty, but I know she’s in good hands with my mom.
Chick-fil-A in the car on the way downtown. Driving through the parking lots is AWESOME, we’ve never been to a playoff game, and I haven’t been to a game that matters in years- usually we just go to preseason games when our friends get tickets from season-ticket holders. The atmosphere is amazing, everyone is pumped.
Right before the game starts, I call home to check in. Maggie is doing fine, no fever, playing and she just got a bath. YAY! We can enjoy the game knowing she’s doing all right.
The game: is ridiculous. We are down 21-7 at halftime, Ben throws 3 interceptions. CRAP CRAP CRAP. He gets it together in the 2nd half and we come back from being down 28-10 later and are leading 29-28 with less than 4 minutes to play. Then it all falls apart, the Jaguars get in field goal range with 40 seconds left, kick it and it’s good. We get the ball back… then the stupid offensive line causes Ben to fumble and it’s all over. We leave, very sad and tired from all of the emotional rollercoasting that’s been going on.
We get home at 12:45am- Maggie just woke up with another fever, head and cheeks burning up. She’s still acting fine, playing and laughing and having a bottle. Mom leaves, we take over. Maggie doesn’t fall asleep until 3am. TIRED. She wakes up again at 4, very very upset- but no fever. We have no idea what’s wrong, teeth? Sour belly? Fighting some sort of mega-virus? We try everything. We go in shifts, one of us snuggling on the couch with her, the other pretending to sleep in the bedroom. I’m so tired, I feel like I’m hallucinating, and I’m dizzy. My stomach hurts a little bit, feel kind of nauseous, probably from exhaustion. I take over a shift, she finally falls sleep at 6. We all sleep. She wakes up for the day at 8:30. Dan thankfully gets up with her, and I sleep (kind of) until 11. When I get up, she’s been playing and had her usual morning, no fever, just fine. But she’s SO TIRED and won’t take her nap. We put her in her crib for a while and let her fuss a bit, but finally I snuggle on the couch and she passes out.
She’s been sleeping for an hour. Dan just went to take a nap. I feel just slightly better than death right now. And my right bicep is sore from waving my Terrible Towel like a maniac last night.

Wow, that sure does seem like a day full of emotional rollercoasters. I hope your little girl is feeling better soon… And that you get a chance to catch some more sleep! ;)
I’m sorry if I over-read this somewhere on here – but where does the name ‘Jayesel’ come from? Just wondering.

@Katharina: Thanks…. both Dan and the baby are sleeping right now, so I’m enjoying some nice, quiet time alone!
‘jayesel’ is my initials, spelled out :) JSL… heh.
George and I watched the game on tv — it was definitely a roller coaster! Do you have any voice left?? We were cheering for the Steelers too but… oh well. :(
Hope all of you get more rest today and Maggie feels better!!
I thought about you during the game. Pretty darn crappy.
Poor little Maggie. Hope you all are better soon, including your crazy towel-waving arms.

it was ridiculous enough watching the game on TV, can’t believe you were there. It looked FREEZING!
Totally watched that game on Tv ~ didn’t see you!! LOL. GO JAGS!!! :PP
I hated the game! I was so hopeful at the end and even thought that Reed could possibly save the day with a field goal if we got down field but bleh!
It sucks.
Hope Maggie is better soon and you guys get caught up on sleep! I took a two hour nap today after work and it felt so darn good!
Forgot to say that the atmosphere at the Steeler games is amazing…I love it. The best is the Browns games…we usually go every year to that game..gotta love Steeler country!
I also thought about you during the game… but I was pretty pumped because the Seahawks won.
I caught a few minutes of the game and thought of you, but I saw that they were loosing at half and didn’t pay attention after that! I was hoping that they would win for you!

@Janet: Surprisingly, it was kind of warm! It was in the high 30s I think, but not windy at all. And it wasn’t really raining, just kind of spitting/misting for a while. I had on 2 pairs of socks, 4 shirts and 2 pairs of pants, and gloves, and a poncho for when it got rainy, so I was doing just fine :) Plus, it was so worth it. Last year, Dan had to talke me out of going to a game that was 5 degrees out on a Thursday night- while I was 6 months pregnant! I wanted to go so bad and he was offered tickets by someone at work, but he didn’t we should go. heh… my voice of reason ;)
