weekend of the sick

It all started on Friday night. We stayed up until after midnight (I know, we are crazy rebels!) watching a movie while Maggie slept. As I was crawling into bed, she woke up crying. We could hear that she was congested and having trouble breathing through her nose, plus she kept biting down on anything and everything. I was pretty sure it was a combo teeth/cold thing. We alternated shifts on the couch with Her Screaming Highness, until she finally crashed at 2:30. And so did we.
Mercifully, she slept until 9:40am. And so did we! She woke up with snot smeared all over her cheeks. It was both adorable and gross. And a little sad, poor girl. She seemed okay during the day, she took a nice long nap and was in a pretty good mood when she woke up. We were supposed to go to 2 parties last night, but we knew by dinnertime it wasn’t going to happen. She was getting very cranky and needed another nap. So she slept for about an hour, and when she woke up she was happy again- so we decided to brave it and go to at least one of the family parties we had planned on (it was only about 15 minutes from home, in case we needed to make a quick get-away!)
She did great at the party, and she slept good last night (but woke up with dried snot all over her face again) Today she is Very Cranky Maggie. It’s 7:30 and right now we’re trying to keep her awake long enough for her ‘normal’ bedtime. She only had 1 nap today, and it was a late one, so by the time she was ready for a nap (about 30 minutes ago!) it was almost bedtime. So Dan is feeding her green beans right now and we have her Disco Dance Party CD in very loud to keep her entertained and awake for 30 more minutes. Then it’s bath and bed.
The bad news? Mommy is getting sick. Sore throat, stuffy nose, achy-ness in my arms and legs. I’m drinking my second glass of Airborne because Good Lord, if there was ever a bad time to get sick, THIS IS IT. I just hope it works as well as it usually does- I CANNOT GET SICK!

Poor mamma and baby! BTW, Sofija came down with a cold about 2 weeks before she cut her first 2 teeth so it could be related!
