sleep, weight, and death

First, thank you all for the advice you’ve been sharing on my last post. It is appreciated, let me tell you. We definitely are going to try some of your suggestions- no matter how painful or frustrating it is. I think because we know she’ll sleep just fine once we get her there, we’re just like Dude, whatever, let’s just get her to sleep! We wanna watch a movie! Call it laziness, call it desperate for some free time. So, we’re on a mission. We’ll keep you posted!

Two random things:

1. I’ve officially reached my pre-pregnancy weight of 132 lbs. WOO! I still have a few more I’d like to lose (7, according to my original Weight Watchers chart) because I was a little chubbier than I would have liked when I GOT pregnant. But, it’s kind of funny how they say ‘9 months on, 9 months off‘ and Maggie turned 9 months old on Friday. How’s that for timing?!

2. Our XBox360 is dead. Last night, Dan said to me ‘I think you should play your game tonight!’ and I was all ‘OKAY!’ since we rarely get time to do that kind of thing anymore. I loaded it up and it was just sitting there, hanging, frozen… so I turned it off. Then I turned it back on and… THE RED RING OF DEATH. So now we wait for the shipping box to arrive to send it to the XBox Hospital. We are sad. Very, very sad.

  1. YAAAAY for reaching your pre-pg weight!!! I know that’s a great feeling! Now you can think about your summer vacation without any bathing suit fears! :)

I know getting Maggie to adjust her falling-asleep habits seems almost cruel/insensitive, but babies are very adaptable, and I promise she will still love you. :) Just be prepared–she’ll be even more rested, so she’ll have more energy while she’s awake!! hehe

Wishing your X-Box a speedy ‘recovery’ (hehe), and a very happy 2008 to you and your family. :)

First – congrats on the weight loss! That is fabulous! Second – sleep…here are my ‘tricks’…how about a ‘lovey’ both of mine have to have a blankie (or just something to hold, really) to sleep. But that’s how both me and my sister were, so that’s why I tried it. Also, routines helped – but mostly it was about getting to bed at the same time every day (well, almost every day). You know how you can get ‘programmed’ to wake up around the same time everyday? Same concept – except with bedtime. I also TRY to put them to bed as soon as they get tired – there always seemed to be a window and if I missed that sleep window, well, I paid for it. Do you read ask moxie? Great for this sort of thing – if only to remind you that you’re not alone!

I have to tell you that sleep doesn’t get easier as they get older. At three, they ‘learn’ that nighttime is SCARY and there are SHADOWS and MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS LIT OFF FIREWORKS FOR THREE STRAIGHT HOURS ON THE FOURTH OF JULY and we’ve not had a good week of sleep since. But, I’m sure we’ll get through this too!!

@Melissa: welllll… I don’t know about the ‘no bathing suit fears’, heh I’m still WAY less toned than I was before I got pregnant, and even before I did, I was out of bathing-suit-shape :) But, it is nice to feel more like my old self again!

@Sunshine: We actually just put Maggie in her crib (so far, 5 minutes, and NO SCREAMING!) and we put a little bear in there with her so she can cuddle with it :)

Boo on your neighbors for putting off fireworks, argh! I would totally have gone out and kicked some butt on that one!!!!

  5. Wow! That’s great about your weight loss, yay!!! :)

Babies know to sleep, once she’s in the crib, it will come natural to her, hopefully!

Sorry to hear about your X Box, I read that to hubby. :( We are hopeful that it’s a speedy time at the X Box hospital. What are some of the games you like to play? We have a PS2.

    Happy New Year!!
