the ring
- November 28th, 2007
Nichole asked the other day whatever happened with my wedding ring. Well, a couple of weekends ago I finally had a chance to tackle trying to get it out from under the vanity.
I cut a hole in the bottom of the cabinet, underneath one of the drawers so it would be hidden after the fact. Then I took a flashlight and stuck my hand down in the dirty, dusty, dark area. AND? There was no ring. At least not where I could reach or see. And I didn’t want to cut the hole any larger and destroy the cabinet too much, so after Dan tried to angle the flashlight a few different ways, and I tried again, and then I contemplated moving the wall in the bathroom so that I could see ‘back in that little corner there’… we gave up.
So, my wedding band is lost. Financially, not a huge loss. But sentimentally? DANG IT.
I guess now we’ll start shopping for a new one, maybe for Valentine’s Day? I stopped into a jewelry store last Friday while I was out and suffered some sticker shock. So it might be a little while and require some more research before we go ahead with it.

I’m sorry to hear about your ring! I know I would be really upset, so I can imagine how you feel! Maybe Dan will surprise you for Christmas!?

That ring must have fallen and hit just right to get so hidden down in there! I’m sure it’s sad to lose your ‘original’ wedding ring. :(
But– I’m with Julie on maybe getting a Christmas surprise from Dan…? ;)

Awww! what a bummer! can you put the vaccum attachment in the hole and see what it sucks up? You know what is going to happen, you are going to buy a new one and the old one will appear!!!!!

I was actually wondering a few days ago if you had found it. I’m sorry you couldn’t find it :(
Who knows, maybe in a few years if you replace the vanity it’ll be hiding somewhere.
I understand the sentimental value. When Todd and I got married his ring was too small, so after the wedding we wet to get it resized. Well apparently the ring he had couldn’t be resized because of how it was made, so he had to get a brand new one. :-( I was a little upset because it wasn’t the one I gave to him on our wedding day, but we couldn’t do anything else. I didn’t want him to lose circulation in his finger everyday! hehe

Sorry to hear about your ring. That really sucks. I third the motion that Dan buy you a new one as an Xmas surprise. of course trying the vaccum attachment might not be a bad idea either! :)

Icky. My coworker lost her ring and on a whim called the grocery store and they HAD IT THERE. Somebody had turned it in. I guess that’s what she gets for living in a ritzy neighborhood… *hugs* Can’t wait to see pics of whatever new one you find. :)

i lost a diamond from my wedding band months ago. I am waiting for things to get a little better financially so I can fix it because I sure do miss it.

My husband nearly lost his on a road trip from denver to nashville. He got out of the car to play with the dog in a field of snow and it fell off his hand. We bought a metal detector @ WalMart to find it … and I did, just as we were about to give up … practically a miracle. And now we have a metal detector.
