welcome to the inside of my brain. please buckle your seatbelt.

Wow, 2 posts in one day during NaBloPoMo! Does that give me extra-credit or something? A cookie? A piece of gum? Anything?

So this is what we woke up to this morning:

good morning sunshine.

Dan calls it ‘Crystalized Bull-Shit’. I’d have to agree with him. I’m not ready to deal with taking a baby outside in the snow. I’ve just started getting the hang of taking a baby out AT ALL, and now I have to deal with weather and coldness and snow and BLARGH. And we obviously missed the boat on putting away our table and umbrella before it snowed. Ooops.

Tomorrow we are going to buy an oven. Apparently our current oven got wind of our kitchen re-doing, and thought hey, I’m sure they’d like to buy a new oven! However, that is not correct. I wanted to just FIX the oven when it stopped going above 150 degrees a few weeks ago. But it’s going to cost almost $300 to do that. Three-hundred dollars to fix an oven that might be 8 years old already, and may not last much longer than that since appliances just don’t last like they used to. So we’ve decided instead to buy a nice, shiny new one. Or at least that’s the plan… I might change my mind after my brain explodes looking at the prices at the store. But we’ll see. All I know is, I need my oven fixed because I can’t bake Christmas cookies. And since I’m hosting a Cookie Exchange at my house in three weeks, I need to be able to bake cookies.

Tomorrow is a busy day, because we’re also getting our first official family portraits, just in time for Christmas. Maggie and I went to BabiesRUs yesterday and we found an adorable Christmas dress for her. And I only mildly succumbed to the crack they put all over their baby clothes (OHMYGODSOFREAKINGCUTE.) It’s a good thing I have about 7,984 friends and family who are pregnant right now (some of them with multiple babies!) because I just want to buy every baby outfit I see. And Maggie has enough clothes right now!

I’m starting to feel a little bit less-stressed. We have food in the house, the laundry is no longer an Imminent Threat, and my inbox is relatively tame. I spent most evenings this week working on one particular project for a client and it’s pretty well-handled now, so I feel I can breathe a bit easier. I still have a bunch of smaller projects I’d like to complete so I can move ahead full-force with The Big One* (which I’ll probably be talking about A LOT here in the next few months) but hopefully in the next week or so. CROSSING MY FINGERS.

Is anyone else completely freaked out that next Thursday is Thanksgiving already? I know we all say it every year but DUDE. WHERE DID FALL GO? (see above photo) It’s impossible for my mind to comprehend that this is what was happening last Thanksgiving:

baby belly - 20 weeks

* We signed the contracts a few weeks ago, but I’m handling the development and programming so my role at the moment is just to wait. I have started some brain-storming but nothing has actually been done yet. But this project? Is huge. It’s also part of the reason we were able to pay off my loan this month. I’m a little bit nervous about the size and scope of it, but luckily I’m married to a programming geek so I’m just trying to take it one step at a time.

  1. We have not had much of what we refer to as “The White Menace” but I’m really looking forward to taking our baby out and pulling her around in the snow when we do. I have a great snowsuit for her and I know she’s going to love watching the dog play.

Ugh. We’ve got to get the family shot done too, so I can get to work on xmas cards. Unphotogenic parents plus wiggly baby plus cracky dog= chaos on camera.

  2. We’ve had flurries too but nothing is sticking. My parents are getting Oliver a sled for Christmas so it looks like I’ll be playing Rudolph all winter—no rest for the weary! haha.

We’re getting photos taken tomorrow too… I’m starting to think it might be a bad idea… :(

Good luck with your Big Project!

I feel your pain, I’m not ready for the snow either. It was flurrying last week while I was driving to work! I couldn’t believe it. It’s this time of year that I feel like heading to Florida until March, hehe :-)
About the stove, I would try a Sears Outlet if you have one around your area, or the clearance appliances at Lowes or Home Depot. We got our stove at a Sears Outlet, it was brand new, just discontinued and we were able to get a great price on it. :-)

  4. I guess I’m lucky in that I get to START with a baby in winter. Just before the worst part, too. Yay me!

I SOO would love that snow, though. I love weather.

We had to buy a stove when our’s decided to catch fire last year for no apparent reason while I was cooking (the electric coil went out on us, I guess! and scared the crap out of ME!).
Anyway, we bought a flat top range at Lowe’s and it was only about $500. With prices like that it’s definitely not worth fixing the old one!

  6. Isn’t it weird to think about how you were just pregnant? When I was pregnant I could never even come close to imagining what my baby would look like. And now here she is! Ready to celebrate her own first Thanksgiving.

  7. I am definitely not ready for any snow to be coming our way anytime soon. So you can keep it.

  8. That is “crystallized bullshit”! I hate when that happens! Meanwhile, I do they think put crack on baby clothes…I can’t ever get enough of them. My daughter is 2 1/2 now, and I still browse the baby section looking for things for people I know. All the little miniature things are just irresistible.

  9. We had some of that white stuff fall too, but it didn’t stick to the ground!! They keep saying we should be getting some before Thursday though! Glad we’re not traveling!

    BTW… tagging you for a meme… see my blog…

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
