are we there yet?

This past weekend we drove to Baltimore to visit Dan’s family. They hadn’t seen Maggie since she was 4 weeks old, so they were in for quite a surprise. When they saw her last, she wasn’t even smiling yet. Now, she never shuts up!

Traveling with a 7 month old for more than just a day is quite an experience. At times during the weekend, I thought, Wow, this is great, we could totally do this more often! and other times, I thought, Wow, could someone please stab me in the eyeballs with a hot-poker? An emotional roller-coaster, you might say. Between the 10-tons of stuff we had to take with us (which we fit into my Honda Civic with room to spare, woohoo!), the packing and unpacking of the diaper bag several times day, and the late-night screaming fits from being over-tired because naps were missed… it wasn’t a completely smooth ride. At least 1 of the 3 nights we stayed overnight, one of us (I can’t remember who?) swore that we were leaving the next morning, we could not do this ONE MORE NIGHT or EVER AGAIN. Then of course the next morning, Maggie was all smiles and so were we and all was right again. Overall, Maggie was great considering she’s 7 months old and we dragged her all over the place: on the Metro to Washington DC, to about 5,000 restaurants, to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, not to mention she was sleeping in her Pack’nPlay for the first time ever.

I posted some pictures on my Flickr- most of them are public but some are private so if you want to see them, just add me to your list :)
