we’ve been doing lotsa stuff

After a busy week, we decided, hey! Let’s continue this fun into the weekend! But even though it was busy, it was actually quite fun. Saturday afternoon, I went out BY MYSELF and got my hair cut and highlighted (pictures to come once I actually fix it this week instead of just putting it in a ponytail!) and also had the lovely girl at the salon rip the hair out of my upper lip with hot wax. Why that seems like a good time to me, I’ll never know, but it really was a nice 2 hour break from my insane week.

Later that evening, we headed to a party with Dan’s work friends. I’d never met their wives but had heard that they were a lot like me (and their husbands are a lot like mine!) And yes, it was true. They were all so friendly and nice and we had a good time. Maggie sort of did… she had some belly troubles when we first got there so a screaming fit ensued, but once that was over, she was all smiles again.

Sunday we drove down with Dan’s parents to where their new boat is docked. We’re Boat People now! It was quite the adventure: for a few hour boat trip, we had to bring 2 grocery bags of snacks and food paraphernalia, a cooler with ice and drinks and tuna salad (made by me!), a diaper bag, a beach bag with towels, bathing suits (just in case!), and my camera, Maggie’s play mat (which she never used, but YOU NEVER KNOW with these things!), what else…? Oh yeah, the baby and her carseat :) I was starting to wonder if we wouldn’t sink the boat with all of our stuff. But thankfully, that didn’t happen. Instead, we had a lovely afternoon of boating and sunshine and reading Harry Potter (book #2- I’m only 10 years behind the rest of the world, thankyouverymuch) while relaxing with my family. Rock on!

Today, thankfully and miraculously, I didn’t have too much work to do. I had a rare day where I was waiting to hear back from various clients about designs, site reviews, content, etc. so I only had a couple of things to take care of in the morning. So Maggie and I played for a bit, did some laundry (well, I did… Maggie’s not so good with the laundry doing yet), cleaned up the house, caught up on my blog feeds (SO behind!). Then my mom came over and we went for a walk, I made dinner, then Dan got Maggie ready for bed while I worked on my photo albums for a little while. Another great day of relaxing, for the most part. Tomorrow though? Back on the horse, or whatever.

Also tomorrow: Maggie turns 5 months old. Five months ago right now I was being admitted to the hospital, and we had no freaking clue how much our lives were about to change and just how awesome she was going to be.

I don’t know about you, but for us it seems like time goes a lot faster since we had a baby! The days are always full and there are never enough hours to get everything in!

Maggie is adorable! I love her cheeks!! Oliver is losing his baby chub so I have to drool over other babies now.

P.S. I loved your lasagna and fruit dessert recipes… how’s your tuna salad? ;)

what, you mean Maggie is 5 months old and not washing, drying, and folding her own clothes yet?!?

(My dad made me do laundry from age 7 on, so it’s really not that far away, I swear…)

    Happy 5 month bday! :)

Melissa: heh- oh my tuna salad is not all that special! Just tuna, chopped celery and onion, salt and pepper, and Miracle Whip. Simple, but yummy :)

Pris: I realized that when you announced his birth- cool, huh?!
