over the river and through the woods
No, we’re not going to Grandma’s house… but we are going to visit some friends this weekend, some friends in Ohio. That means: Overnight Stay. The first one with Maggie. Which should be an adventure!
Truthfully, I’m not all that worried about how she’ll react. She’s so laid back, and she’s a great sleeper (8 or 9pm until 6 or 7am now, WOOHOO!) and she’s had a really good week (finally started napping longer in the afternoons!!!) What I am worried about? How we’re going to fit our pillows, bags and suitcases, the bouncy seat (we CANNOT leave without this, it is very important for fussy-Maggie-soothing!), the Baby Bjorn, and Dan’s golf clubs into my Honda Civic. The trunk is big, but… not THAT big. I think we’ll probably leave the stroller at home, because I rarely use it that much right now- she’s still tiny enough to carry around in the Baby Bjorn which takes up much less room. But still. We’re gonna be pretty squished.
It’s going to be quite the weekend! Tonight and tomorrow night we’re staying with one set of friends (who also have kids- 3 of them, one is a baby- so we picked a good house for our first test-run overnight!) And it just so happens that several other couples we went to college with are going to in town as well, so we’re all getting together. The boys are going golfing in the morning, so we decided we are going to leave them all with the kids tomorrow night and have a Girl’s Night Out. WE NEED IT. Then on Sunday before we head home, we’re going to stop by to visit my college roommate and her husband, who haven’t met Maggie yet.
So yeah! It will be fun! I need fun. I’m getting sick of the daily grind of diapers and work and all that. In serious need of some socialization!
PS- I had big plans for a 4-month ‘Maggie’ post before we left, but as you can see that didn’t exactly happen. And early next week is really busy- doctor’s appointment on Monday, meeting Monday evening with a new client, and a meeting on Wednesday with a new client (Hello, Crazy-Busy-With-New-Projects!) so I may or may not get around to writing one. So if not, I will just sum up my feelings on her turning 4 months old tomorrow: Holy Crap.
