monumental day

I woke up, but my eyes were still closed. I could see the early morning light filtering in from the window. It was quiet.

WAIT A MINUTE. It was QUIET?!?!?!?

I opened my eyes. The clock read 5:52am. And Maggie was just starting to stir on the baby monitor. We all went to bed at 11pm. That’s SEVEN HOURS! My baby slept her first full night.

This totally makes up for the games she’s been playing with me. For the last 2 weekends, Dan has been on night duty (LOVE HIM) During the week, she’s been consistently waking at least twice to eat (usually around 1 or 2am and then again around 4 or 5) But come Friday night, she’d sleep until 4am for Daddy, everytime. Then Sunday night, she was back to two or three times a night for Mommy. GRRR! We were starting to think she was psychic or something, knowing exactly who was taking care of her that night.

But 7 hours of straight sleep during OUR sleeping time? When Mom’s on duty? She’s the best.

  • That’s so great of her! And now, I must hate you for a minute. Ethan is almost 14 months and still wakes at least twice a night. He goes right back to sleep, but that’s not the point. I haven’t had a full night’s sleep in over a year.

well don’t hate me too much yet… it’s only happened once! hehe I’m trying not to get too excited and expect it to happen regularly. I’ll just enjoy it when it happens! :)

    go maggie!

I remember the first time Sofija did that, I woke up and ran over to her to make sure everything was ok..and she was just sleeping peacefully..

it only took a few weeks and she was up to doing 8am – 7am straight…hopefully it’s the same with you!!

  • Good job, Maggie! :) Keep it up!

And all babies must be psychic like that… Oliver did the EXACT SAME THING when it was George’s turn (Friday nights/Saturday mornings) to get up. Never failed! Little buggers. :P

Oliver started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks old… it made me anxious at first (I’d get up early and peek in his room because I was afraid he stopped breathing or something) but after a while I relaxed and enjoyed getting a full night’s rest again. :)

  • I’m with Crystal, I’m so jealous! Braden must be Ethan’s long lost twin. He’s the same way, waking once or twice a night. But I have to say, get her sleeping through the night early and you won’t have a problem. Go Maggie!

  • My mum said when I slept through the night it was a welcome relief. Hurrah for you both! :P
