Baby Girl Lyker arrives

Baby Girl Lyker arrives

As my sister posted in the comments yesterday… the baby is here! Margaret Elise Lyker – we’ll be calling her Maggie. 6lbs 11oz, 19 1/4 inches long, born 12:42pm on March 28, 2007. We’re in love. And tired. And happy. And overwhelmed. And it’s fantastic. I’ll post more later, of course. There are some fun… KEEP READING »

yeah we’re totally ready to be parents.

yeah we’re totally ready to be parents.

Email conversation of the day: Jen: hey the eye doctor called, your glasses are in. Dan: Now I can be a real nerdddddddddd…… Jen: you don’t need the glasses for that Dan: Be nice. You are always so mean to me… Jen: riiiiiiiight. Dan: If you are looking for something to do you can go… KEEP READING »

cervix watch 2007

cervix watch 2007

Never before in my life did I think I’d say the words, “Gee, I hope I get some good news about my cervix today!” Nor did I ever thing I’d share the news so willingly and happily with perfect strangers on the internet. Pregnancy does weird things to your self-respect inhibitions. At my doctor’s appointment… KEEP READING »

pregnancy brain

pregnancy brain

So today I’ve reached a new level of stupidity: I forgot my phone number. I was leaving a message for a customer of mine (we’ve been playing ‘phone tag’ for the last day or so) and the woman taking the message asked for my number. I have a business phone and I gave her that… KEEP READING »

myspace vs facebook

myspace vs facebook

I’m not exactly a huge follower of them-there new-fangled ‘social’ websites (ha! I’m so old) but I have had a profile at MySpace for a while, just to keep in touch with some friends from high school and college. Earlier this week, a college friend emailed me a request to sign up for Facebook (which… KEEP READING »

grownup survey

grownup survey

Something a little different than ‘What’s your favorite color?’ (found at Laura‘s blog) 1. What bill do you hate paying the most? Our student loans. Not that they weren’t totally and completely worth it, but they’re so frustrating. They aren’t standard federal loans, meaning that we can’t consolidate and lock in a low rate. So… KEEP READING »

new design

new design

Yes, a new template for the ol’ blog. I figured I’d get a spring-type one up now… before this baby is born and all hell breaks loose! I’m still tweaking some things… so if something looks strange, that’s why :)

the baby’s room is DONE!

the baby’s room is DONE!

FINALLY. The room used to look like this. We slowly got rid of all of that junk with several trips to good will, and it turned into this. Then we did all of this: new carpet (this was actually done this summer, right before we found out about the Little Turd’s existence) painted the crown… KEEP READING »

perspective

perspective

I find it amusing now that I thought I looked SO PREGNANT in this picture (taken 17 weeks ago) And now, I can’t even remember what it was like to look or feel that small. I FEEL LIKE A COW. At 37 weeks pregnant, everything is just so difficult to do- even normal stuff, like… KEEP READING »

all about my cervix

all about my cervix

Today was my 36 week doctors appointment, and my cervix got all checked out for the first time. The status? 2cm dilated. 50% effaced (or ‘thinned out’). Baby’s head is ‘pretty low’, to quote the doctor (which explains the sudden and sometimes extreme difficulty in walking- again with the ‘head in the crotch‘ explanation) Of… KEEP READING »

this is my world

this is my world

I’ve been such a terrible blogger lately, I know. It’s the middle of March, and I’ve only posted 3 times so far this month! I’m so ashamed. Excuses? I don’t really have any… at least not any good ones. I’ve been busy of course… but aren’t we all? I’m still frantically working to finish up… KEEP READING »

The carseat is installed. By this weekend, I’ll be considered ‘full term’. Baby can come whenever she wants now, I give her full permission!

35 weeks

35 weeks

I haven’t had a bad pregnancy, really. I’ve heard such horror stories from other women and read stories of 9-month-long bouts of nausea, extreme weight gain, various complications, etc. I was a little sick at first, but it didn’t last much past 13 weeks or so. I’ve had the usual things- heartburn and sleeping and… KEEP READING »

busy weekend

busy weekend

So we had quite the busy weekend… so much so that yesterday I was TIRED. It seems like it always catches up with me the next day, like last weekend after the baby shower, on Monday I felt like I was hungover. We weren’t even really busy with social events- just things around the house,… KEEP READING »
