reality starts to set in. and all is okay.

This past weekend, we spent some time with our friends who just had their third child 2 weeks ago. A little boy, and goodness he was precious!

I was a little bit anxious about being around a baby right now. Which might sound weird, since I’m just 7 weeks away from having one of my own. But I just feel like there is so much more pressure on me now when I’m around babies- pressure to know how to hold them comfortably, pressure to know what to do if they start crying, pressure to WANT to hold them in the first place (’cause sometimes, ya know, ya just want to be baby-less for moment!) Since I’m going to be a mom soon, I should know these things already, right? What if I don’t? WHAT IF I DO IT WRONG?

But really… it was great. Probably partly because he was an angel and only cried like twice the whole 24 hours we were there (at least while we were awake… I don’t know what happened at night! heh) And he’s only 2 weeks old so he spends his time eating or sleeping, and that’s pretty much it. But it really made me excited! We’re going to have a little girl! With all of my worrying and anxiety and nervousness about becoming a mom, I think it made me realize… we’ll be just fine. Sure- it’s going to be a huge change and dramatic and crazy and wonderful and stressful. but it’s a BABY. And they smell so good!

Even Dan was excited. When we got home Saturday night, on our doorstep was a package from his grandmother- our stroller/carseat travel system (which, I have to say- SHOCKED that someone bought it for us! I thought for sure we’d be buying that ourselves after my shower… which is this Sunday, by the way!) So yesterday after we went grocery shopping and ran some other errands, on the way home, Dan couldn’t stop talking about how we were going to go home and put it together and get it all ready for our little girl. He was almost giddy :)

This really is going to be awesome. Even when it’s not-so-much.

That travel system must be a good one because everywhere I go, I see someone with the same one! I’ve been noticing it alot in the last few months.

Oh and I got the chance to hold and feed a baby this weekend and it brought back a lot of memories for me. I’m just hoping I can do it all again!

That is so neat! I worry my husband will never get to that point. Right now he’s so child-phobic it’s kind of scary. :P
