As I mentioned yesterday, the past few days have been crazy. Or at least, crazy for what I’m used to lately.
Friday night we went out on a ‘date’ (we figure we’d better get them in now while we still can!) We had dinner at Thai Place and then headed to some furniture stores in search of a rocker/recliner for our living room. No luck finding anything we liked for the prices, and getting up and down out of the big smooshy chairs wreaked havoc on my hips by the time we got home.
Then Saturday I waaaaaay overdid it with the cleaning. Dan help as much as he can, but… he’s a BOY and boys aren’t known for their cleaning abilities ;) He did help with the basement vacuuming and the tub/shower cleaning, which was great. But by the time I was done for the day, I could hardly walk.
Sunday we went to church (in the frigid, single-digit temperatures) and then the grocery store. Dan has been taking my car to work for the past couple of weeks because of all of the snow (he has a Mustang, which goes HORRIBLY in the snow) so during the week I’m pretty much stuck at home. Which is okay with me because I’ve had a ton of work to do, but it also means that we have to go food shopping on weekends, which I try to avoid in our area because it’s SO CROWDED. And of course, this was Super Bowl Sunday, so everyone and their mother was out getting party food (including us, heh) We got home from all of that, I made some dips and snacks for our Super Bowl party we were having, and then some friends and family came over. After standing all afternoon in the kitchen and getting things set up, again… my hips. OUCH.
Monday I had a doctor’s appointment. Not with my OB/GYN, but with a heart specialist. I hadn’t mentioned it to anyone (especially my mom! Hi Mom!) because I didn’t want to cause any worry until I found anything out. Turns out, everything is fine. I’d been having some spells of racing heartbeats- and when I say racing, I mean RACING. I first noticed it in November, when I was sitting at the computer, totally still, and my heart felt like it was beating in my head- and fast. I checked my pulse, and it was 140 beats per minute. ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY! Later that day, it was down to 80 so I thought maybe it was just a weird pregnancy fluke. I mentioned it to my doctor and they told me to keep an eye on it but weren’t too concerned. Well, the last time I was there, they asked about it again, and I told them that I noticed it several times since then, sometimes every day for a few days. So they sent me for an EKG yesterday in town. And everything with the test was normal, and the heart doctor talked with me a while about exactly what I’ve been experiencing, and basically he said that’s normal for pregnancy (especially since my blood pressure and everything else is perfectly normal) It could be caused by a lot of things: the way I’m sitting, the way the baby is sitting… if she’s on an artery, that could be slowing the flow back to my heart, causing it to beat heavily. But since it’s a steady, rapid beat as opposed to an irregular, rapid beat, he wasn’t too concerned. So- all is well :)
Of course it was the Coldest Day in Ten Years, which was fun (or not). I did meet some old co-workers for lunch though, and that really was fun :) But after walking around two different parking garages and the hospital on my already aching hips, I was beat when I got home.
At some point in the last 4 or 5 days, I think I also pulled a muscle in my groin. Yeah. ?? I’m not sure if it’s entirely pregnancy related or not. Or if it’s just overuse. Or a combination? I was careful to try and rest today, and I’ve been putting some heat on it (which feels DEEEE-VINE!) and it also feels really good when I stretch it. But that relief only lasts about 10 minutes, and then I’m back to hobbling around the house like a 90-year-old. With a huge belly.
Really I have had a great pregnancy so far. My biggest, and really only complaint: my hips. The spreading and stretching and moving of bones is excruciating for me. It’s been making sleep very difficult (as well as the lovely heartburn that has kicked up a notch lately too) Which I guess I have to get used to the no sleep thing- but no sleep is one thing. No sleep while being in PAIN is another. I am starting to see how women say towards the end that they don’t even CARE anymore, just get this kid OUT! heh
So! That’s my story from the last few days. I have a bunch of other entry ideas floating around in my head (including a new feature I’m going to start here on my blog! With pictures!) but I thought I’d give a little update first.
And now, I’m off to clean up dinner and get ready to watch Gilmore Girls tonight.
