bummer of the day

I got a nice surprise at Christmas and received a bit of a bonus from a client of mine (one that I do a lot of contract work for) For a while now, I’ve been wanting to buy some new dishes, but could never rationalize the expense ‘just because’. So I thought- the perfect time! Some extra, unexpected cash! I am so buying new dishes now!

My local BedBathandBeyond didn’t have the set I wanted in stock, so I ordered them through their website. They arrived in the mail today.

Two of the plates? SHATTERED. And the sugar bowl? THE BOTTOM WAS DETACHED AND BROKEN.

I really like that set… I may have to check out BB&B for dishes, as I haven’t found any elsewhere that appeal to me.

    Good luck with the exchange!

    Oh man, that really sucks!

Something totally unrelated to this post….the high chair/booster seat that you have on your wishlist to the right for the baby…such a good buy. We used one of those instead of the traditional highchair and it was really nice. I loved it. It takes up so much less room and you can take it with you to family gatherings.

Prissy- I got the idea from my cousin- they didn’t get a full high chair either and I thought well duh! What a great idea! Our dining room isn’t very big to store a big chair either plus this one was so much cheaper :) And we have 6 chairs at the table we never use (yeah, we eat in front of the tv on tv trays… hehe) Plus like you said, we can take it with us and my mom doesn’t have to have one at her house, etc.

That sucks. :( Love the dishes though. Hopefully the second time is the charm.

We have the Baby Papasan swing on your list, and it was probably the best gift we got!! When nothing else calms him down, the swing will. The music/sounds are very soothing–in fact, they make ME sleepy. I am so sad that he will outgrow it soon.

That sucks that stuff came broken, but Bed Bath & Beyond will exchange or refund no problem, no questions asked.

    Hope it works out!

38 pieces? That wouldn’t fit in my front yard!

But it’s a neat dish set. :) I hope you can get a new one soon.

yeah I called my local store and they said that they could order me a new one (they didn’t have this one in the store here which is why I ordered it through the site) So now I just have to get Dan to drag the box into the store for me :) That sucker’s HEAVY!

Laura- I KNOW! 38 pieces! It came with matching serving dishes and everything. I still may want to buy a few extra dinner plates (it only comes with 6) but I’m not sure where I can order them separately. But for now, woohoo :) It was too good a deal to pass up!

“4 1/2″ nappy bowl” – what on earth is a NAPPY bowl? It’s freaking me out!

In Australia, nappy = diaper. ;)

haha :) I think in this case it just means ‘small’? Not sure exactly what it means, but I don’t think it refers to diapers at all! It is a strange name though….
