I called the main customer service number for Bed Bath and Beyond to tell them about the second go-round of my Broken Plate Saga.

First, I got disconnected after going through 2 menus of choices. GRR.

Then, I finally got through to someone. I took a deep breath to calm myself down because, really, I didn’t want to be mean. Because let’s face it- it’s not her fault, for one thing. And also: IT’S JUST DISHES. But still.

I calmly explained the situation and she apologized. I asked what my options were- if I had to do the whole thing all over again, AGAIN, or if they could just send a replacement for that plate. I was nice! And so was she! And they’re sending a replacement plate! To my house! So I don’t have to drag the whole thing back to the store!

Which is great. And lucky for them.. because I think I probably would have just cancelled the order altogether if I had to do it all over again. Partly because how can I be sure it won’t happen again? And also because maybe the dishes are cursed?

But they sure are pretty. So I’m gonna keep ‘em.

So there you have it. I was gonna call and be all mad and Cranky Preggo Woman on them, but I decided to stay calm. And in a 3 minute phone call, they were helpful and nice and I got what I wanted. Points for BBandB customer support!

Of course… we’ll see what shape the plate is in when it comes!

You did the right thing. I like being empathetic and get mad right along with people who get screwed. And bitch and complain when it’s a problem of my own. But when I actually have to call someone and deal with it - yeah, I’m nice. I just can’t be mean either. :)

But I can get a bit more gutsy when it comes to a machine! I put an ad in the paper the other day and they hyphenated my business name. What the f* is sBme? So, I left a message saying that it wasn’t acceptable and I was disappointed in a big ol “I-know-what-I’m-talking-about” tone. They called back and left a message saying they’d fix it for the next issue; but they “usually don’t format text ads - but we’ll do it in your case”.

    THANKYOUVERYMUCH! :)
