we were obviously very good this year

Christmas came early at our house today:

The only disappointment comes when watching non-HD shows, which there are still a lot of (and apparently more and more are coming all the time) But DirecTV at least broadcasts all digital, unlike all of our local regular cable companies, so even those don’t look all that horrible. I did have to re-configure all of my season passes on the DVR and learn how it works all over again. But it’s sooooo worth it. The stuff that is broadcast in HD- DROOL. And the XBox360 on this sucker? Amazing. Even the sound is fantastic, and it’s just these two little speakers on the bottom.

Santa must love us.

  • Love the new TV. We have a HD-TV, and we ended up switching to DIsh — more HD channels. Did ya’ll get a HD-receiver? That helps too.

I agree though — the salesman didn’t tell us that you had to have COMCAST HD to get all of the channels in HD. But, I guess we should have known.

Regardless, it’s still clearer than our old TV.

yup, we’ve actually had DirecTV for about a year, just regular with a DVR/Tivo thing. We upgraded to the HD equipment (free!) but we had to buy the HD DVR (I cannot live without my Tivo!) which was kind of a bummer, but so worth it!

Dan’s parents have Comcast digital cable HD package with their plasma HD tv, but a lot of the non-HD channels aren’t even digital and they look HORRIBLE! I was very worried that our non-HD stuff would look bad, but so far it’s okay :) Not as good when you compare with the HD of course, but not awful either.

Plus it’s always fun to get a new toy :)

  • I think we are getting one soon, it’s a present for Jon who has been drooling for MONTHS. I then stated that we needed a TV stand…from IKEA! That’s so funny. We were “this” close from going to Best Buy the other night to buy one. I don’t even want to hear, “Just think how awesome PSP 3 would be!” Because I will seriously slap Jon. I am thinking we are going to have to switch to Direct when we move because we will have to switch to Comcast and god forbid our HDTV suck. By the way, what size is that? Whoa, did that sound kinda dirty?

haha oh yes, very dirty! It’s a 46 inch LCD- definitely large enough! Dan kept eyeing up the bigger ones, 50 inch+, but they were WAY more expensive and I thought they were just too big for our living room anyway- we would have to sit outside to see it! hehe

We ordered ours from BestBuy online- free delivery that way :) Dan did so much price shopping once we decided on a specific tv and pretty much everywhere was the same- Circuit City, BestBuy, etc. They all keep tabs on each other, I think, and try to match their prices. BestBuy has a 60 day price match so if we see it cheaper somewhere, we may have to use that! Oh- and I highly recommend DirecTV- we don’t pay much more than we had been paying Armstrong for regular digital and we have DVR! And they’ve been great with the upgrades and installations and stuff.

Not to add fuel to your husband’s fire…. but the Xbox 360 looks absolutely amazing, seriously. I told Dan, we’ve certainly come a long way since PacMan and Pong on Atari way back when :)
