half-assed
So I got the house halfway cleaned today, before my back started hurting too bad for me to continue. GRRRR.
I’m not sure if it’s sciatica or not, because it doesn’t have much to do with my legs or any numbness or anything. What I’ve been dealing with off and on for the past month or so (and it actually started a bit earlier than that, only much milder and only when I was on my feet a lot) is more of a deep muscle-type pain in my tailbone. Sometimes it’s a sharper pain than other times, but today it feels like I pulled a back muscle. Which maybe I did- between walking around the zoo for 4 hours on Saturday, putting up Christmas lights and decorations on Sunday, and doing some more shopping/walking yesterday, I was already sore. Then I tried to vacuum and dust. Heaven forbid!
Whatever it is, SUCKS. I’m not used to my body not letting me do what I want, especially around the house. I like to do stuff myself and hate relying on other people for things. So now I’m sitting my butt on the couch with my cleaning supplies waiting in the dining room for me to finish tomorrow. Or at least try to.
What am I going to do for the next 4 months?!?!

I hope it’s just pregnancy related, i.e., temporary!
I had a lot of lower back/tailbone pain during pregnancy, and the bigger Oliver got (and the lower he dropped), the worse it hurt. But I was like you, I HATED not being able to do stuff that I normally could, so I tried my best to live with it. I was on my feet at work every day until I was 36 weeks. I even helped George paint our deck when I was 37-38 weeks, and week 39 I cleaned every single window of the house, inside and out, leaning them inwards and holding them up with one arm and a knee. Yeah, it was quite a sight… :P The worst part was towards the end when I had a hard time sleeping. Anyway, the back pain was gone IMMEDIATELY after Oliver was born. I hope yours goes away too! If not, you’ll be busy anyway, getting the baby’s room ready and washing/folding cute little clothes… and before you know it, she’ll be here! :)

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s just pregnancy related.. every once in a while I’ll have pain like this if I overdo it when I’m not pregnant, but this is much more frequent and much stronger, that’s for sure. It takes my breath away at times when I get up to quickly or move the wrong way.
I can’t believe you did all that stuff so late! Although I’ll probably be the same way, especially when spring comes- I’ll have all kinds of projects I’ll want to start, hehe.
I think I’ll just have to pace myself.. thankfully I can take lots of breaks and sit on the couch for a while, which is what I did today :) I am sooooo thankful for that!
I had back pain with all three kids and it went away as soon as I popped them out. Dude, your body is not used to having a little turd in there, so yeah, it gets messed up.
Hormone production while pregnant is increased and that is so that your pelvis is able to spread as the little baby inside can grow, which can mess with your back.
I remember it kicking in around month 5 when I was pregnant with Aivlene. I used it as an excuse to lay on the couch and whine.

Yeah I’m starting to realize my body is really changing… just all of a sudden! I just keep reminding myself it’s for a good reason :) Feeling her kick makes it all better (at least mostly!)
And yes… I’ll definitely have use this as an excuse to not do housework, haha. Though I’m not sure how well it will go over with Dan!
Oh – be careful! I hurt my back so badly (from running the vaccum while pregnant) that my Dr. sent me to physical therapy.
Apparently all the joints & muscles loosen up quite a bit making you more prone to injury.
My husband still makes fun of me for it. ;)
