who says that Mondays are terrible?
Maybe it’s because the last 2 days or so have been so miserable, with all of the snot and coughing and sore throat and 2 (yes TWO!) boxes of Kleenex that I’ve sneezed and wiped my way through. But today… today was a good day.
- I was able to sleep last night, finally. Just what the doctor ordered for a bad cold.
- My 2pm appointment emailed me to cancel. HALLE-freaking-LUJAH, because I was so dreading going anywhere today. Especially since I have 2 appointments tomorrow.
- My sister came over for lunch and she finally got to hear her little niece’s heartbeat (last time she was over, I was still really bad at being able to find it) It was good timing, because I have to ship the doppler back this week.
- I’m able to taste food again. Yay!
- I got a check in the mail for a site that I started a year ago but never finished- but not because of me. The client had to put it on hold for various reasons but offered to pay me IN FULL for my trouble, I just sent him all of the files I had so far. Woohoo!
- My good friend from high school had a baby boy last Wednesday, and today she sent pictures! His name is Elliot and he was 9lbs 7oz when he was born- and she only pushed 3 times. I asked her to teach me how she did that, I’d like to know, please.
- Dan is bringing me a chicken caesar wrap and fries from Chick-fil-A. If you think this lady is cooking dinner today, FORGET IT.
- I felt my first, official ‘kick’ today from the baby! I’ve been feeling vague flutters and movement for a couple of weeks, but today was a definite ‘Take that, Mom!’ right under my belly button. It actually startled me and I gasped… and I’m pretty sure if Dan had been here, he’d have been able to feel it.
- Today is the halfway point for Baby Incubation. 20 weeks. 5 months (or ‘the 6th month’ depending on what confusing pregnancy calendar you’re looking at…) Either way, it’s getting closer and closer.

I’m glad you’re feeling better! And yay for being halfway!! :)
Your friend only pushed THREE TIMES? I figure if I pushed 3 times (counting to ten each time) per contraction, and I pushed from 4:30-6:16 with contractions every 2 minutes… that’s what, ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-NINE PUSHES? I’m gasping for air just remembering how exhausting that was. So please tell me this was her second child or something, which is supposed to be easier, because that would at least give me some hope!

Well, that’s what she told me on the phone… I’m not sure she means she had 3 contractions? So say she pushed 3 times per contraction and had 3 contractions… that makes 9. Still not very many at all! heh It was her second baby.. but actually from what I remember, her first was just as easy! I think she’s just one of the lucky ones who has really easy deliveries. It might even run in her family because her sister had twins and I think she almost had them in the car on the way to the hospital or something. So if it’s a family trait… I kinda wish I was related to her! haha If she could bottle that, she’d be a millionaire.
I haven’t read this far ahead in any of my pregnancy books (I’m trying not to freak myself out before it’s absolutely necessary) but… YOU HAVE TO PUSH MULTIPLE TIMES PER CONTRACTION!?!??! oy. I have so much to learn….
I pushed twice with Aivlene.
Go ahead. Hate me.

haha! Dude, everyone is totally going to hate you! So did you push literally 2 times? Or did you push several times through 2 contractions?
This whole birth thing is weirder and weirder, the more I learn about it.
congrats on the first baby kick! hope you can post more belly pics and pics of yourself. :)
Yeah, add me to the list of people to hate. I only pushed twice with Chuckie and the for the second time I pushed, they had to tell me when to push because I just couldn’t tell.
He nearly slid right out of me (that’s sounds really bad). I had really easy labor and deliveries for both kids though. Jada, I had to push maybe five times or something.
Let’s hope I get the same thing if I have another!
Oh and that’s total pushes, not per contraction.
Okay – the whole pushing multiple times per contraction — don’t get too freaked out! To put it simply, at that point, the contractions are long – about a minute or so. So you need to take a break to breathe in the middle somewhere ’cause if you’re pushing “right” you will likely be holding your breath.
I was SCARED to death of labor and pushing. OY, I had nightmares about the pushing and the possible pooping. However, it was not that bad. Yes, I was sore, and yes, I had stitches, and yes, I was glad it was over.
But it wasn’t terrible. In fact it was so not-terrible that I’m doing it again this July…. :)
I’m excited for you to meet your baby girl!
Yay for the first kick! isn’t it amazing?
I’m glad you’re feeling better – I had 3 colds during my pregnancy. Once in April that lasted 3 weeks, once in July – laryngitis that lasted 2 weeks, and once right near the end in September/October. I was just kinda stuffy during the last bit, and I was terrified of giving birth while I was stuffed up. Thankfully it cleared up before the big day!
Hopefully you only get stuck with one cold during your pregnancy :)
