cereal and pinkness
A few weeks ago I was grocery shopping, in the cereal aisle. Let me just say: I HATE shopping for cereal. It’s expensive and the ones I like seem like they’re NEVER on sale. But anyway, I was looking for something new in the cereal category. Then I saw a cereal I didn’t know they made anymore: Cracklin’ Oat Bran. It was like my FAVORITE cereal when I was in high school, it reminded me of oatmeal cookies. It wasn’t on sale, but dang it I bought it anyway!
And when I got home, I made a big fuss to Dan about how I bought my favorite cereal and I couldn’t wait for breakfast the next morning to eat it (yes, I realize, this is very loser-ish of me, to be that excited about breakfast.) He pretty much just shook his head and laughed at me. Which, I really couldn’t blame him for that.
The next morning I got out of bed before Dan left for work. Back when I was a slave to the corporate world (ha) I was usually gone before he got up, but things have obviously changed in the past few months :) He was in the kitchen when I went to get my breakfast. And sometime during the night I had completely forgotten about the delicious cereal waiting for me- but when I opened the cupboard I saw the box and remembered. ‘Yay!’ I said, reaching for the box. ‘Cracklin’ Oat Bra-’
The box was light. Like, EMPTY light.
I turned around and saw Dan practically CRYING, he was laughing so hard. It was the kind of laugh where there was no sound for a full 10 seconds.
He had taken the bag out of the box and moved it into the Frosted Mini Wheats box, and move the Frosted Mini Wheats bag into the (almost empty) Corn Flakes box. (yeah, it was quite involved) And of course, he thought this was HILARIOUS. And he was so happy that he was still at home to see my reaction.
My reaction was to smack him. And then I laughed. And then of course, I said, ‘So where the hell is my cereal?’
Marriage is fun. Or at least, marriage to Dan is fun.
In other news, I have a sudden weakness for tiny clothes of the pink variety.

Cracklin’ Oat Bran is pretty much perfect. As are little pink frilly things :)
Little pink things are the best. :)
Oh my gosh, I just laughed so hard at that. You guys kill me.
I had a thing for cereal when I was pregnant with Aivlene. One time I went to the store specifically for cereal.
I love pink things…you can never have too much pink!
Well?! How was it after all these years?! And I’m surprised you could wait until the next morning. If it were me, I would have bust open that packet when I got home. ;)
