five random things
1. Dan’s last day at work was yesterday. Yup, he starts a new job on Monday! After working 4 miles from home for so long, he’ll now be driving downtown instead. It’s only about 20 miles or so, but with traffic it can take up to an hour. But, he’s really excited about the job and the opportunities it could lead to in the future, so he’s willing to make the drive. Now he’s REALLY going to hate me for being able to work while sitting on the couch all day, heh (not to mention that 2 months in a row now I’ve made more money than him, HA!) It will be a bit of a change, for him and for me. I’m used to him popping in for lunch some days at home, or being able to get home from work in 5 minutes. But he’s excited about the job, so that’s a good sign.
2. Halloween party tonight at my cousin’s house- our costumes are silly and stupid, but it should be fun. I’m mostly looking forward to getting out of the house to visit and eating some good party food!
3. Between Thursday night and yesterday, I got caught up on Season 6 and this season’s episodes of Gilmore Girls. Yes, that’s right- I watched about 20 episodes in 2 days. Loser? Maybe. Awesome? Yes.
4. We put together a huge cabinet for our laundry room today. The goal was to have something with doors (because the kitties like to investigate EVERYTHING) in which to put stuff, mainly stuff that is currently in the baby’s room and needs to be stored somewhere else. It went fairly well, with minimal arguing and it was up and filled within a few hours. And now the baby’s room pretty much just contains things I’ll be taking to good will or keeping (2 dressers, some blankets, etc)
5. I also got these shelves (the tall ones) for the dining room this week- FOR FREE! Well basically. I had $125 in gift cards for Pier 1 that I was stockpiling from credit card points for the past year or so, plus a 20% coupon, and I finally found something I wanted. I never would have paid that much for these shelves, nice as they are, but getting them without having to pay a cent was very fantastic :)
