pictures and glasses and stuff

So! Remember my old glasses and the magic re-appearing screw story? I finally got new glasses back in July, and I’m just getting around to sharing a picture:

Now, I’m beginning to think I just have HORRIBLE luck with glasses or something.

I only had these for about 2 weeks when I noticed some weird scratches on the left lens. They weren’t normal scratches, but they looked more like chunks taken out, big sections of the finish that were just GONE. And it made it impossible to see out of the lens. The only thing I could think of was that my dear, sweet cat (Scotty) had gotten ahold of them and scratched the lens when they were sitting on my nightstand or something. The scratches are on the inside, not the outside- so it wasn’t that I set them on the table and they scratched that way.

So, I took them back, paid $92 for a new lens, and that was that. I got them back again about 3 weeks ago.

The other day, I noticed the SAME SCRATCHES AGAIN. On the same lens. In the same area. In the same pattern.

This time, I have been soooo careful with them. They are either on my face, in the bathroom cabinet, or in the case on my nightstand. HOW DID THEY GET SCRATCHED AGAIN!?

So now I think I’m going to have to take them back AGAIN and see if there’s something wrong with them, and why they are so damned fragile. I DO NOT want to pay another $92 for a new lens when I didn’t even do anything wrong to scratch them again. GRRR. I can barely even see out of the left lens- and I am soooo picky about my glasses being clean, so you can imagine how this is driving my OCD self up a wall.

Anyway, I also got my haircut last week. It’s a bit shorter than I wanted, but it grows fast (especially now thanks to the prenatal vitamins) so it’ll grow back before I know it!

And now, my first baby belly picture. I’m still in that ‘is she fat or pregnant phase?’ of course, but I can definitely tell as the weeks (and even days) pass that THERE’S SOMETHING GOING ON DOWN THERE! And this picture (taken 2 days ago), I was pretty bloated- today I actually feel a little smaller than what it looks like in this one. But, I am now holding all of my pants together with rubber bands because they don’t button anymore… and I’m down to just a few shirts that fit. Somebody needs to break down and do some maternity clothes shopping!

The glasses totally complete the “Sexy Web Geek, Who Can Do Bad Things To You With Code” look. I bet Dan loves it. =)

Oh, I remember the rubber band days. When I worked at the Sheraton, I had to keep my pants up with a rubber band. Finally, my supervisor said something to the manager and he gave me money to go out and buy some maternity clothes for work.

    1) love the new haircut - it suits your face.
    2) is that typical behaviour of your Scotty? I was just curious as to how you were able to point a finger at one cat versus the other.
    3) maybe you should store your glasses in a hard case overnight if that’s what the problem is - big mystery!
    4) i think i started to need to shop for some clothes around my 12th week. here’s a tip - just buy a couple of shirts and pants. unless you buy the ones with the HUGE elastic waste that goes up to your boob-line (heh), they won’t be suitable for your entire pregnancy, and you’ll need to shop again. maternity clothes are so expensive! bleh!

Yes, that’s definitely the typical behavior of Scotty… Gracie pretty much leaves things alone (the only thing she’s done is spill the laundry detergent on our dryer.. .heh) But I actually took my glasses back on Friday and the girl there said she doesn’t think it’s anything I’m doing, because they don’t look like normal scratches. So they’re going to replace this lens for free (yay!) and investigate what it could be. So that’s good news :)

I think I’m going to have to muster some energy this week and go maternity clothes shopping! I feel a little silly still though- I’m not ’showing’ to everyone else- but to me and Dan I am!! Luckily I only need a few things, since I’m working at home in my pjs ;) That will help save me money!
