it seems all I have to talk about is this fetus in my belly

It’s an interesting sensation, being hungry and nauseous at the same time. Just in case you were wondering. It’s interesting. And very very frustrating.

We went to the doctor on Tuesday and all is well, at least as far as the doctor could tell from taking my blood pressure, me peeing in a cup, and doing a quick pelvic exam. The good thing is that YES, I am definitely pregnant. I was still haunted by this weird, nagging fear that I had made a huge mistake and read both tests wrong and I wasn’t pregnant at all, just insane. But, it was confirmed!

So on the way to the car, I almost started to cry. WHOLLYCRAPWE’REHAVINGAKID. Not that I’m not happy or that I was upset or anything.. but it was just… WHOA.

We go back on September 25 to hear the heartbeat. THAT will be cool. :) And my due date is April 8. My birthday is April 14. Dan says: “Happy Birthday! OUCH!”

In other news, I was actually quite productive this week on the working-at-home front. Getting the laptop fixed was a MAJOR help. I can do a little work, take a break and watch such educational television as ‘Access Hollywood’ or ‘Dr. Phil’ and then jump right back into work again! It’s totally fantastic.

But, I have not turned completely antisocial! Have no fear! For this weekend, we will be going to our college friends’ house (they’re married) for a Labor Day picnic. Of course, that’s just on Sunday, because I can’t plan to do more than one outing in a weekend right now, otherwise I’ll get too tired and want to vomit.

Being pregnant is fun.

I think I had that weird, nagging fear that I wasn’t pregnant until about, oh, 7 months along! I was never sick, and I didn’t start noticeably showing to other people until I hit 6 months, so for a long time I worried that something was wrong with either me or the baby, or that there was no baby after all. (I was starting to think I just had a big rock or something in there when he was 11 days late too… heh.) Now I look back at the first ultrasounds of our tiny beanie-baby and then I look at my beautiful boy, and I can’t believe he ever FIT in my tummy, and I wonder how did he turn out so perfect? It’s crazy and it’s amazing. 8 months from now you’ll be thinking whollycrapweHAVEakid! And I promise, no matter what, it will be your best birthday EVER. :)

Only a few more weeks to go and you’ll be done with all the first trimester yuckiness… hang in there!

yikes…someday, down the road when I am (hopefully) pregnant, I hope I can avoid that whole nausea thing. Am I just kidding myself?

Your due date and birthday being close together isn’t so bad, it could be worse. My birthday is Oct 16th and my due date is Oct 17th. Add in the fact that most babies arn’t born on their due date and I’m realistically looking at the possibility of sharing my birthday.

I will become real soon. Wait till you start feeling a fluttering feeling when the baby moves…..totally weird feeling for the first few times!
    Have a great weekend!

That’s neat that you’re due near your birthday. :) At least it’s not a major holiday. My best friend (and aunt…weird to have an aunt my age, but her husband is my half-uncle) is pregnant and due Jan 10 with a little girl (whom they have already named Elizabeth Leigh). We hold almost all of our holiday get togethers at their house and she probably will not want us around! Not a great time of year to be cranky and ready to give birth! :)

Now I can’t WAIT to find out what you’re having! :)

Great due date! No hot or cold weather to make you miserable! Congrats, again.

btw, being pregnant is great. It’s fun. At least the first time. I have a feeling my 2nd (if there is a 2nd!) won’t be near as much fun.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! April is a nice month to have a baby, I think. No extreme temperatures to worry about, for one thing. :P
