First, thank you all so much for your congrats and good luck wishes and all of that :) It makes it fun to tell people and get excited reactions!

Tomorrow we are having a party here at our house for Dan’s Masters graduation. What? He graduated in December and you think it’s a little late to have a party? Yeah well.. we’re a little slow. It’s been over 2 years since we bought our house, and this will be the first time most of our extended family members have seen it. So really, an 8 month-late graduation party really isn’t that bad.

And again with the timing… what a great time for me to be getting the house ready for 30+ people to come over! I’m not having too much morning sickness (or all-day sickness as it really should be called… because I’ve been feeling worse in the afternoons and evenings than in the morning) but it’s been enough that I can only do short spurts of work to prepare for the party. For example, today I cleaned the house- something that I’ve been neglecting for about 3 weeks because of all of the various projects we had going on (new carpet, painting, etc) Usually it takes me less than 3 hours to do a good, deep clean of the house: dusting, vacuuming, mirrors, maybe even dust some places I haven’t in a while (like the tops of the picture frames in the hallway or something) Today, it took me 6 hours. Or rather, the span of time was over 6 hours. I took 2 or 3 breaks in between, lasting close to an hour each. I just kept running out of steam and had to sit down for a while. Plus, I’m paranoid I’m going to do too much and the baby will be born with some random problem and I’ll blame myself for that extra cleaning I did behind the toilet. So every time my back starts to get tired or sore or I have a minor cramp, I freak out and make myself take a break.

So. A party. Yay! The weather is going to be GORGEOUS, no rain, dry, sunny, in the low 80s. Perfect for beer-drinking and picnic-food-eating. And we’re going to share our news with the rest of the family who hasn’t heard yet. The most fun part about all of this so far is the telling people. The boob soreness, not so fun. But sharing the news, very fun!

Okay, I’m off to watch Six Feet Under with my husband on his birthday. He turns 27 today. :)

    Happy birthday Dan!

Telling people was my favorite part too. That was a long time ago. My little baby turned 18 this year. Sigh.

    Have a great party!

The symtoms were pretty rough for me in the first trimester, but they got much better in the second. Now… well, all kinds of new aches and pains. To me, it’s all worth it. With less than 10 weeks to go now, I’m starting to freak out, but now I’ve got something to help me occupy the time - reading your pregnancy posts (which I hope you’ll post!).

How many weeks are you now?

I remember I barely lifted a finger during the first trimester - I NEVER had energy to clean. If it takes you 6 hours, consider yourself lucky it got done at all!

    So happy for you!
