question / answer #1

Okay… getting started with the questions. Laura asked three (overacheiver! hehe ;) )

What is your favorite office supply?

Good Lord, I have no idea. The computer? Is that an office supply? It is for me.. I do everything on there, including banking and stuff now. I’d have a hard time choosing in a fire whether to save Dan and the cats or my computer (I’M KIDDING) But if you want a real answer, like traditional office supplies… I’d have to say folders. I love being organized, and folders help me do that. I like just the regular old manila ones with tabs that I can write on.

Which type of flower do you wish could grow in your yard all year?

Daffodils. I’m so sad that they only bloom nicely for a few days it seems, then they turn all brown and stupid-looking (sorry Daffodils, but it’s true) They just look like smiling faces to me, I love them.

Where did your first/middle names come from?

Not really sure about my first name, I think my mom just liked it.

(She also claims that she didn’t know ANY Jennifers when she named me.. apparently everyone else had the same thought that year because I went to high school with 140 people, and there were like 5 in my class. And in college, my freshman hall was about 50 girls, and there were 4 Jens, and also a bunch of Rebeccas. Very strange.)

Anyway. My middle name is ‘Shannon’. I believe my grandpa picked that out, and I rather like it. I’m Irish, and it’s an Irish name. Plus, it’s different than the usual middle names that go with Jennifer, like ‘Anne’ or ‘Lynn’ or ‘Marie’. And goodness knows I’m different!

the story of your name sounds like mine with jayden. i SWEAR i didn’t know of/never heard of any other little boys named jayden when i named him. now, every other boy i come across up to the age of 5, i’ve found, is named jayden or some variation thereof. he’s going to be lost in a sea of jayden’s when he goes to school, which is exactly the opposite of what i wanted. oh well. and ethan’s going to be the same way, but at least i know that one going in.

ps. I believe the 80s spelling was “Ann”. That’s how my middle name is spelled, anyway. ;)

I have read several places that Jennifer was the #1 name for girls around 1978-1981 and that is borne out by the fact that I know about 12 (I was born in 1979). Also I read recently that of all the women becoming mothers for the first time around 2005-2006, more of them will be named Jennifer than any other name (because most of them were born in the late 70s!)

My middle name is also Ann. (No “E”, to my dismay, since I loved Anne of Green Gables).

Me too on the “E” – always to my dismay. My mom claims that she “doesn’t really know” why they left the “E” off… but my dad picked the name, so I’m actually 110% okay with it. :)
