things that happen when you work 14 hour days

1. There is a burnt-out lightbulb in our bathroom. It’s been like that for weeks. I have a replacement bulb in the closet but can’t seem to get around to changing it.

2. I am just now posting my fireworks photos from the Fourth of July.

3. The bathroom trash can overflows onto the floor and my cat chews on our used Q-tips. So disgusting.

4. I keep stepping on mysterious crumbs and dirt and hairballs when I walk down the hall- my house needs cleaning in a major way. An empty pizza box sat on our stove from Saturday until last night. The kitty litter needs changing like you would not BELIEVE. But I did change the sheets on our bed this weekend- quite the accomplishment.

5. Cooking? WTF is that?!?

6. Taking a night ‘off’ (last night.. which was really more like ‘only-working-for-2-hours-before-Survivor-starts’.. is that really a ‘night off’?) makes me feel incredibly guilty. But being on the couch for 3 hours was FANTASTIC. So much so that I didn’t bother doing any of the above listed things (except for the pizza box, which made me very proud.)

7. We are driving to Charleston, SC next Wednesday for a wedding, and I haven’t even given a second thought to packing or directions or what the hell I am going to wear. Tonight Dan and I have a ‘date’ at Kohl’s.

8. I am almost dreading leaving town next weekend, because I know when I get back it will feel even worse because of all of the work I’m leaving behind. It’s not like my ‘real’ job where things just kind of get re-arranged or picked up by someone else when I leave. It’s ALL ME. Kind of scary.

9. On a positive note, our savings account has never looked better. But at what expense? MY SANITY!?!?!? What is that worth, monetarily speaking??!?!?

10. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job. I want to quit my job.

Sounds like my house! Chuck and I might go out on a date tonight too. But probably out to a bar!
