friday forum

Yeah I know I’ve been scarce… not much to say, really. And not much time to say anything anyway. So in lieu of a decent blog entry, here’s this week’s Friday Forum.

1] What is your family like? How would you describe them? Do you come from a large family or a small one? In a word: crazy. My immediate family is pretty average as far as size- Mom, Dad, younger sister Michelle, and me. But my extended family is pretty big. On my dad’s side, there are about 30 aunts, uncles, and cousins. On my mom’s side, she has 5 brothers and a sister, and there are 5 cousins there. But my mom’s family lives all out of state (and in one case, out of country) except for her youngest brother who moved back here last year. So he’s kind of an adopted brother now :) Everyone is great, seriously. We argue and tease and pick on each other, but we all love each other and have so much fun together. Dan’s extended family is also pretty big. It’s his mom, dad, and sister, but then there are lots of uncles, aunts, and cousins too. So needless to say, the holidays are quite interesting!

2] What do you like most about your family? Is there anything that you dislike? I like how we all don’t take anything too seriously. We always have fun together. Honestly.. it might sound cheesy and like I’m just saying it for the sake of this entry.. but I don’t dislike anything about my family. Maybe little things, but that’s what makes us OUR FAMILY. :)

3] What does family mean to you? How often do you get to see your family? We see both of our families pretty often, my family a little more since they only live a few miles away. I’d say on average once a week.. sometimes more, sometimes less. Especially during the fall- Steeler games are always a gathering time!

4] If you have inlaws, do you get along well with them? Are they pretty different from your family or similar? How often do you see them? Honestly, again… probably sounds like I’m just making this up. But I love my in-laws! They are the exact opposite of the typical ‘in-law nightmare’: non-meddling, fun, and hilarious. And also, they are a lot like my family so that’s probably why we get along so well. That’s not to say there’s never been ANY problems, but nothing major or anything. We even went on vacation with them a few times, and I have to say- it went more smoothly than some trips we’ve taken with friends!

5] Do you have anyone who is like a “second family” to you? If so, who and why? heh.. my family is big enough, I don’t think I need a second family! :)
